The forthcoming Toyota Hilux has recently been spotted again in the country. This time, the pickup truck was seen during a TVC shoot in Gurugram, Haryana. Earlier, it was expected to launch in the first month of 2022, but now the rumours are that the brand can introduce the Hilux at the end of this year only.
The India-spec Hilux looks identical to the model sold in Thailand and gets a bold grille with a dense chrome frame, a prominent front skid plate, LED projector headlights with LED DRLs, multi-spoke alloy wheels, side steps, and a large enough load bed. The manufacturer has used chrome to a great extent.
While speaking of inside features, it is anticipated to come with an 8-inch infotainment screen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, auto aircon, electrically adjustable driver seat, push start-stop button, TFT instrument display, and more. Built on the Japanese carmaker’s IMV-2 platform, which already propels Toyota’s Innova Crysta and Fortuner, it will directly rival the Isuzu V-Cross in India.
It is also worth noting that the company has a plan to bring only the double-cab version to India rather than the single-cab version. This is all done to offer it in a five-seater configuration. In terms of powertrain, the Toyota Hilux will be powered by the 2.4-litre, four-cylinder, 150 bhp diesel engine of the Innova Crysta or the 2.8-litre, four-cylinder, 204 bhp diesel engine of the Toyota Fortuner.
