The 2.7-litre petrol engine is capable of producing 166 HP of maximum power along with 245 Nm of peak torque. It comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The diesel model, on the other hand, churns out 177 HP of power and 420 Nm of utmost torque. It gets paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox.
There is also an option for a six-speed automatic gearbox for both the engine options. However, the 4×4 drive system is only available in the diesel variant of the SUV. The automatic model of the diesel Fortuner generates a slightly higher torque figure at 450 Nm.
The interior of the SUV also remains untouched. It continues to feature the same leather interior and a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with embedded navigation. In terms of safety, the SUV is equipped with 7 airbags, hill-hold assist control, ABS and EBD. The closest rival to the Toyota Fortuner is Ford’s Endeavour.
