Toyota has displayed the Innova EV at the ongoing Indonesia International Motor Show in Indonesia. This is a concept based on the current-generation Innova Crysta, which is being sold in India. The Innova Crysta is the top-selling premium MPV in India, and for this model, the internal combustion engine was replaced with an all-electric drivetrain as the most major alteration.
While Toyota has been tight-lipped on the electric Innova’s technical characteristics, we anticipate it to be a powerful offering in terms of range and performance. It should be noted here that the showcased vehicle was only a concept model, and the production-ready version of the e-MPV might have distinct features and design.
Coming to the design, the Toyota logo on the front is surrounded by blue details and distinguishes the EV model from other models. The front bumper is also redesigned, and the design of the alloy wheels also appears to be updated. Another prominent addition is the electric badge on the rear of the MPV, which indicates that the upcoming Innova will be an all-electric car rather than a plug-in hybrid EV.
Besides this, in the official video, we can also notice the updated instrument console with an eco metre and a tachometer. The car continues to feature analogue dials as opposed to the fully digital screens in other EVs.
As far as its India launch is concerned, Toyota is unlikely to offer the Innova EV in India anytime soon. On the other hand, the brand will undoubtedly monitor consumer reaction to the Innova EV in the Indian market. If such EVs had a market in India, the Japanese manufacturer would not hesitate to launch the vehicle.
