Toyota’s upcoming SUV, which is codenamed D22, is going to make its official debut on July 1st in the country this year. This Hyundai Creta rival is most likely to be named the Toyota Hyryder. As per the media reports, Toyota will start selling the all-new SUV around the festive season of 2022.
Its manufacturing will take place at Bidadi Plant number 2 in Karnataka and the brand will also supply it to Maruti Suzuki. However, Maruti will launch the code-named YFG a little later on their NEXA platform. The forthcoming SUV will be developed on Toyota’s densely localised TNGA-B or DNGA platform that propels a variety of cars by the brand all around the world.
This new Toyota Hyryder will be manufactured as a joint venture by Toyota and Maruti Suzuki where most of the suppliers will be Maruti and the crucial parts will be made available by the Toyota suppliers.
The new mid-size SUV is most likely to come with two powertrain options: a mild hybrid system and a stronger hybrid system. Lower-spec vehicles are anticipated to get a 1.5L petrol engine with a moderate hybrid powertrain. The stronger hybrid unit, on the other hand, will have a larger battery pack and electric motors.
