Next Gen Toyota Fortuner is surely the next big thing for India. The butch looking SUV has been on sale from long time while its popularity has sen no decline in the heart of Indian people. The refreshed, next generation of Fortuner will arrive in India in less than a month, presenting the best gift Indians can receive from Toyota in this festive season. It will rival the Chevrolet Trailblazer (which also awaits face-lift) and 2016 Ford Endeavour.
The new Fortuner is expected to carry the 2.8 L Diesel as well as 2.7 L Petrol engine only. Toyota may leave the smaller 2.4 L engine for a later stage in the car’s life cycle. The car will benefit from the 4WD power-train and even more torque production from its diesel engine. It is expected to produce 174.6 BHP and 450 Nm of torque while the gearbox would be a 6-speed automatic unit.
The petrol on the other hand would produce 166 PS and 245 Nm of torque. It is expected to come with 5-speed manual gearbox and 2WD option only. The new Innova will carry rich interiors and a Lexus style front end design. It will offer more safety this time with 7 airbags on the top end variant.
Added practicality includes 225 mm of ground clearance, 2750 mm of wheelbase and long list of electronic features on the new car. New Fortuner is expected to be priced the same way Innova was done for the country. It will definitely tick the INR 30 lakh mark this time, restricting certain buyers to go for German tags like BMW, Audi and Mercedes Benz, with cars starting equally from around INR 29.90 lakh.
