The next-gen Toyota Fortuner has been spotted testing for the first time in Thailand. One of the most popular SUVs in the Indian market, the current-gen model of the Fortuner was launched back in 2015 while has not been offered any significant changes from the past five years. One can further expect the updated variant of the SUV to launch in India by the end of 2020 or in early 2021.
Though the recently spotted next-gen Toyota Fortuner has been heavily camouflaged, the SUV is expected to feature a revised exterior design language in addition to the redesigned front fascia. Carrying forward the dominating stance, the front profile of the SUV features redesigned grille as well as the front bumper. In addition to this, the customers can also expect some minor updates offered to the alloy wheels setup as well as the rear profile. The SUV is further expected to feature horizontal fog-lamp inserts.
Coming to the interior of the updated SUV, the brand is expected to offer few tweaks with the addition of an all-new infotainment system, more premium upholstery as well as some other premium features when compared to the present-gen variant.
The Toyota Fortuner is currently available in the Indian market with 2.7L petrol, 2.4L diesel and 2.8L diesel engine options while the next-gen version of the SUV is expected to carry on similar engines, though being BS6-compliant. The 2.8-litre diesel engine is further expected to be discontinued.
Once launched in India, the Toyota Fortuner facelift will compete in the market with the likes of Ford Endeavour, Skoda Kodiaq, Volkswagen Tiguan, Honda CR-V, Isuzu MU-X and more. The brand is also expected to update the current-gen Fortuner variant with a BS6-compliant engine in the coming months which will significantly increase its price tag in the Indian market.
