Production Ends for 1st Generation Toyota Innova, Not to be Sold Alongside Crysta

The first generation of Toyota Innova has been taken off and Bidadi plant in Karnataka saw the last unit of the car rolling off the production line recently. This ends the much stated rumor that after the launch of Innova Crysta, the first generation car will be sold alongside. The car was launched in 2005 and after nearly 11 years of production, the older generation comes to an end.

The first generation was always a hit among the buyers as it provided the most comfortable experience at the most affordable price for its size in India. It was also preferred by cab operators as it even came with relatively low maintenance cost than many other cars. The new generation will replace the 2.5 L diesel motor with all new 2.4 L engine while the gearbox has also been changed to a 6-speed unit.

The new 2.4 L diesel motor is good for 146.9 Bhp @ 3400 rpm and 342.2 Nm @ 1200-2800 Nm. The improvements are very significant and it even get a 6-airbag setup for a safer ride. It measures 4735 mm in length, 1830 mm in width and 1795 mm in height. The long 2750 mm of wheelbase will ensure a comfortable ride while its feature loaded approach will make buyers more tempting towards the growing MPV segment.
