As per the latest details available, Maruti Suzuki has officially announced that its board has approved the supply of Vitara Brezza to Toyota Kirloskar Motor. The Toyota-Badged Maruti Vitara Brezza is expected to be launched in August 2020. Rumoured to launch as Toyota Urban Cruiser, it will be the second rebadged Maruti product that will be launched with the Toyota branding in the Indian market.
Toyota Glanza, the rebadged Maruti Baleno was the first-ever product launched after the partnership of the two automobile giants. The 2020 Maruti Vitara Brezza was recently launched with minor cosmetic changes which include the likes of an updated front grille, new LED headlights and taillights. Powering the SUV is a 1.5-litre BS6 petrol engine while the brand has discontinued the last-gen diesel engine since it has not been updated to meet the BS6 emission norms.
Powering the Toyota’s version of Vitara Brezza will be the same 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine that is capable of offering maximum power of 105HP and a peak torque of 138Nm. The engine will be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard while the 4-speed automatic gearbox will also be available as an option.
The SUV is expected to feature similar designing traits as well as the mechanics when compared to the Maruti Vitara Brezza though one can expect Toyota to offer a better warranty package with the same.
Once launched in India, the Toyota-Badged Maruti Vitara Brezza will feature a heavier price tag than the ongoing Maruti Suzuki variant which is currently available in the market at a starting price tag of INR 7.34 lakh (ex-showroom). The rebadged SUV from Toyota will compete in the market with the likes of Mahindra XUV300, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon and more.
