Toyota Fortuner special edition variants are nothing new, and the most recent is the Fortuner Commander, which was unveiled in Thailand. Also, to retain its exclusivity, the production is limited to 1,000 units only. It has a slew of styling changes both inside and out, along with a retuned suspension.
To kick off with the external tweaks, In contrast to the standard Fortuner, which has chrome accents, the new Commander Edition has a blacked-out front grille, window lines, and tailgate. It also draws inspiration from the sportier Legender variants and gets dual-tone alloy wheels. At the rear, a blackened chrome strip connects the wraparound LED tail lamps. What’s more, the ORVMs also have a black finish.
Turning inside, the Toyota Fortuner Commander gets sporty two-tone red and black leather seat upholstery, as well as a rear cross-traffic alert system, blind-spot monitoring, and a 360-degree camera, in addition to the standard model’s equipment. The manufacturer has also overhauled the suspension configuration of the new Fortuner Commander to improve ride quality. The SUV is available in two dual-tone paint schemes from the brand: white/black and red/black.
The Toyota Fortuner Commander retains its 2.4-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine, which produces a maximum power output of 150 hp. It is mated to a torque converter automatic transmission with six speeds. In India, the Fortuner is only available with a 2.8-litre GD series diesel engine producing around 204 hp and 500 Nm.
Toyota has yet to make an announcement about the India launch of Fortuner Commander, but we can anticipate it in the near future. Besides this, the company is currently getting ready for the debut of the updated Glanza, the Urban Cruiser and an all-new midsize SUV developed in partnership with Maruti Suzuki, the rebranded Ciaz, known as the Belta, are expected to go on sale in the coming months.
