Toyota Glanza has completely leaked ahead of its official launch, flaunting similar profile to the Maruti Baleno in both interior and exterior terms. The three differences that one will notice in the first look is the use of the chrome-loaded front grille, Toyota badge on the body (including the steering wheel and alloy wheels), and same badge on the key.
Apart from these differences, it’s hard to say if the car is a Toyota or a Maruti. The Glanza will be available with standard Maruti safety kit that includes dual airbags, ABS, and reverse parking sensors. The brand would be offering 3-year/1,00,000 kilometre warranty on the new Glanza while Maruti limits the same to 2-year/40,000 kilometres.
Apart from the standard option, the car will also be offered with 5-year and 7-year extended warranty packages. Toyota would be offering the Glanza in familiar shades that are already available on the Baleno while the features like a rear-view camera, LED daytime running lights, and projector headlight setup is available on the top-spec model.
The two variants (G and V) from the Japanese brand will feature the 1.2L DualJet petrol engine with the same power (83HP) and torque (115NM) output as the current-gen Maruti Baleno. The Toyota Glanza hatchback will be available for deliveries from June 6, 2019. This happens to be its launch date too as the brand will not wait to make its official market entry like most other rivals.
Toyota Glanza claims a mileage of 21.4 kmpl while even the Smartplay infotainment system remains similar to the Maruti Baleno. After the Maruti-Toyota joint venture, when the discussion regarding platform sharing was started, everyone expected the sharing of frame and engine, thinking that both the brands will use different body panels to shape their products. Now, the exactly similar product, that too built in the same facility as Baleno, confirms that the efforts were next to zero by both the Japanese brands.
