Toyota Offering Huge Discount on Yaris Sedan to Boost Sales in India

Toyota Yaris Sedan is reportedly getting heavy discounts due to lack of buyers in the country. The premium sedan is said to be carrying up to INR 1 lakh worth benefits that vary from cash discount to exchange bonus. Also, Toyota Gold Rush scheme guarantees coins with every purchase, further adding up to the buyer’s saving. Yaris was launched in India at INR 8.75 lakh for the manual base variant. The price is now raised to INR 9.29 lakh for the base manual and INR 9.99 lakh for the CVT variant. The gap is uneven and not justified for the J variant. The latter practically got INR 4,000 worth increase only while former gained INR 54,000 in terms of ex-showroom price.

In comparison, Hyundai Verna starts at INR 7.92 lakh while Ciaz costs INR 8.19 lakh. Not just that, even the overpriced Honda City feels justified here with a price tag of INR 8.77 lakh. The only benefit of Yaris is the 7-airbag shield that goes missing from other cars. The base variant of Yaris comes with INR 70,000 of price demand for the CVT variant while one above the same demands INR 1.20 lakh.

Toyota Yaris Sedan Interior

Toyota Yaris is missing the diesel engine till date, resulting in lack of sales from buyers who need least running cost from their sedan. Verna diesel starts at INR 9.29 lakh while Ciaz is even more affordable at INR 9.19 lakh. The most expensive model among all is City diesel, carrying INR 11.10 lakh as the price for the base model. Apart from these four options, the segment has Skoda Rapid and Volkswagen Vento as the options, both of which scored a better number in comparison to Yaris. The most expensive model in this range is Yaris VX with CVT, priced at INR 14.07 lakh.
