Recently, the Toyota Innova Crysta diesel went out of sale in the Indian market and according to the latest reports, the brand has issued a notice to the dealership to stop taking bookings for the diesel variant of the SUV. Toyota will stop shipping diesel Innova Crysta to dealers in August 2022, and only petrol versions will be available beginning in September 2022.
As per the sources, bookings for the diesel Innova will reopen in January 2023. It is unknown why bookings for Innova diesel vehicles have been suspended since the Innova Crysta is a 3-row MPV, diesel engines are the most desirable. It is probable that diesel Innova manufacturing has been halted in order to prepare the assembly line and supply chain network for the next-generation Innova.
Eliminating supplies might have a big impact on sales, but the business hopes to have the replacement model available by January 2023 to reduce the harm. A salesperson stated that Toyota only accepts bookings of the in-demand Fortuner diesel model when booking a petrol Innova. Simply put, dealers only receive the Fortuner diesel when they book an Innova petrol.
On the other hand, Toyota intends to launch the fourth-gen Innova this year. The next generation of the popular MPV will supposedly receive extensive improvements that have never been seen on an Innova before. The new Innova, codenamed 560B, will ditch its hefty and dependable ladder structure in favour of a more contemporary monocoque chassis based on the brand’s new TNGA-C architecture.
In addition, the upcoming Toyota Innova is likely to be powered by a hybrid petrol engine rather than traditional diesel engines. It is feasible that the petrol hybrid model may eventually replace diesel powertrains. It is no news that OEMs throughout the world are gradually moving away from diesel engines for passenger cars due to more onerous emission standards.
