Toyota Innova Hycross is Coming on November 25, 2022

The hybrid Toyota Innova Hycross will make its global debut in November, on the 25th to be exact It will be followed in the first quarter of the fiscal year 2023 by a launch in India. The current-generation Innova Crysta will be sold alongside the third-generation Hycross because it is still in high demand. Following the launch of the Hycross, the existing Innova Crysta may be offered exclusively to fleet operators.

Innova Hycross hybrid receives some styling updates, including new alloy wheels. Other changes are likely to be made in order to create a distinct profile for the hybrid model. Hycross is also expected to be more spacious than the Innova Crysta.

Toyota is continuing its efforts to align its vehicles with Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA). Innova Hycross will ditch its traditional ladder-on-frame chassis in favour of a lightweight monocoque chassis. TNGA also necessitates powertrain changes, which apply to the Innova Hycross as well. Innova Hycross will use a FWD setup rather than the RWD setup that the Innova Crysta currently uses.

Toyota Innova Hycross will be powered by a 2.0-litre petrol engine. In international markets, the Hycross may use a different 1.8-litre petrol engine. The hybrid system will be heavily localised to reduce costs. The Innova Hycross will only be available with the petrol-electric hybrid powertrain. It will not be available in diesel form.

The existing Innova Crysta will lose the 2.7-litre petrol engine, which produces 166 PS of maximum power and 245 Nm of peak torque. There are two transmission options: a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic with a sequential shift.

Following the introduction of the Hycross, the Innova Crysta will continue to be powered by a 2.4-litre diesel engine producing 150 PS. The torque output is 343 Nm with the 5-speed manual transmission and 360 Nm with the 6-speed automatic transmission.

Given the decision to make 6-airbags mandatory beginning in October of next year. Innova Hycross hybrid could have this feature as standard across all variants at launch.
