Toyota Mirai concept sedan has been revealed by the brand ahead of its official unveiling at the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show, which will commence from October 24, 2019. The concept car previews the second-gen version of the Mirai hydrogen cell-vehicle.
Toyota describes the all-new hydrogen-powered vehicle technology as “a final-stage development model of the second-generation Mirai”, which will prove as a step further in the direction to expand the use of Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV) in the automobile markets.
As per the brand, the new Toyota Mirai will offer an increase in driving range by 30% when compared to the previous-gen variant. On the other hand, the brand has also claimed a range of 483km for the second-gen version of the Mirai concept while the new improved range will offer better performance. The concept measures 4,935mm in length and 1,885mm in width.
Coming to the design, the brand has used its TNGA platform for the development of the sedan which features a large grille at the front while the rear has been offered a sweeping look flowing towards the back. The brand has further equipped the car with more rigid body panels in addition to offering a low centre of gravity.
Apart from this, the second-gen concept features the same four-door layout concept offered to the first-gen Mirai while offering a wheelbase of 2,920mm with 20-inch wheels.
Coming to the interiors, the brand has equipped the concept variant with a 12.3-inch central touchscreen system in addition to offering maximum controls on the dashboard. The digital instrument display is now redesigned while the four-seat layout has been replaced with a new 5-seat setup.
Apart from a 30% increase in range, the brand has not yet specified other mechanical and cosmetic bits offered to the new concept variant with fuel cell technology though, the brand has confirmed the redesigned fuel cell stack that stores more hydrogen which leads to improved efficiency as well as a much smoother ride.
