Toyota Urban Cruiser Compact SUV Leaked: Ahead of the official launch, Autocar India has managed to reveal the first look of the upcoming Toyota Urban Cruiser, which is actually a rebadged version of the Maruti Vitara Brezza. As it was being speculated, the Toyota version of the compact SUV features a unique front fascia to set itself apart from the Vitara Brezza.
The Urban Cruiser features a Toyota Fortuner-inspired twin-slat front grille, a faux skid plate, and a muscular front bumper which has been further equipped with round fog lamps. Though the interior of the SUV has not been revealed yet, it is expected to stay more or less the same in comparison to the Maruti Vitara Brezza. In terms of availability, the pre-bookings for the upcoming compact SUV are scheduled to commence from August 22, 2020.
Mechanically, the Toyota version of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza will be powered by the same 1.5-litre petrol engine which is good for a maximum power of 103HP at 6000 rpm along with 138Nm of peak torque at 4400 rpm.
The Urban Cruiser will be the first-ever SUV from the brand that will feature a mild hybrid system mated to a manual gearbox. The manual version of the SUV is also expected to offer better fuel efficiency than the one offered by the non-hybrid manual variant of the Vitara Brezza.
Apart from this, both the manual and automatic versions of the Toyota Urban Cruiser will be mated to mild hybrid technologies though the brand is not expected to offer them an ISG external badging. Once launched in India, the Urban Cruiser will be priced in the same vicinity of INR 7 to INR 11 lakh just like the Vitara Brezza though the brand is expected to sweeten up the deal further with impressive warranty schemes for the high-end variants.
