Toyota has recently showcased its Vellfire luxury MPV in India. According to the reports, the MPV was showcased at what seems to be a private dealership event ahead of the official launch. The Toyota Vellfire once launched in India will compete in the market with the likes of Mercedes V-Class. The leaked pictures show the Vellfire with a similar design language as that of the South Asian product already available in the markets while the MPV is expected to arrive in India as a Completely Built Unit (CBU).
Being regarded as the sportier version of the Alphard MPV, the luxurious Toyota Vellfire is available in the international markets in two variants namely Standard Body and Aero Body. According to the reports, the brand will be bringing the Standard Body variant of the Vellfire in India that features an elegant style language.
Outside India, the Toyota Vellfire is available with two engine options. The 2AR-FE 2.5-litre petrol engine is capable of offering a maximum power of 182 PS and a peak torque of 235 Nm while the 2GR-FKS 3.5-litre petrol engine is good for 301 PS of power and an utmost torque of 361 Nm. The former has been equipped with a CVT while the latter gets an 8-speed automatic transmission. The Indian-spec variant is expected to get the hybrid powertrain as standard that features an AR-FXE 2.5-litre petrol engine with an optional 2JM and 2FM electric motors.
Coming to the design, the Toyota Vellfire has been equipped with split headlamp design with LED DRLs integrated on both the lower lights. The MPV gets sequential turn indicators as well as a thick chrome grille at the front. In terms of interiors, the Vellfire gets an all-black treatment with faux wood inserts on the dashboard.
The MPV has been equipped with all-electric Ottoman full-recline seats, a leather-wrapped multi-function steering wheel that features a twin-pod instrument panel. The centre console features the infotainment system as well as the AC controls. The car has also been equipped with dual moonroof in addition to ventilated seats as well as individual seat tables. The MPV also gets automatic climate control, ambient lighting, and 7-airbags as standard for added safety. Toyota’s Luxury MPV is expected to get an ex-showroom price tag of around INR 75 lakh in India.
