Uber Flying Taxi Launch in 2020: Autonomous technology may help us get a worry free moment on road in the near future but traffic congestion will not leave any human once the population shoots up a few more billion. The alternate mode of transport for this problem is through the air itself.
A recent report in the automotive world confirms that Uber Flying Taxi is to be launched in Texas and California by year 2020. The small electric aircraft to be used for the journey will charge $1.32 per mile initially, that’s about INR 86 for every 1.60 km.
The fares for these Taxis will reduce over time as more units will be added later to the fleet. The aircraft will work on Vertical Take-Off and Landing principal as a helicopter. Uber Skyport, as they call their dedicated location from where one can fetch a flying taxi, will be located on the top of certain important buildings in the city.
The only problem that can occur in their plan is that no manufacturer has demonstrated a feasible VTOL aircraft till date. The commercial running cost of units seen till this time is higher than expected. For one thing out of all, the future is all-electric and in the air.
