2018 Volkswagen Polo was internationally unveiled recently, carrying a new and improved design for the premium hatchback. For now, VW India has no plans to launch the 2018 mode of Polo in India. Unfortunately, the India spec car will miss on this update and may carry the same design as the current generation car.
2018 Polo measures 4053 mm in length, 1751 mm in width and 1446 mm in height. The car is based on the new MQB platform and leaves the India spec PQ25 for a lightweight architecture. The design looks quite inspired from the Volkswagen Golf in overall terms.
The old generation Volkswagen Polo is actually falling under the sub 4 meter segment while the new car will not get the benefits. The new wheelbase of 2564 mm is even more longer than 2469 mm of the old car.
2018 Volkswagen Polo now comes with LED daytime running lights and low profile tyres on the GTI variant. It will come with two petrol and one diesel engine, all of which will come in 7 different power outputs. The car now comes with impressive LED elements in the taillight too.
India spec Volkswagen Polo is powered by two different engines. The 1.2L, three cylinder petrol engine is good for 75 BHP at 5400 rpm and 110 Nm at 3750 rpm. It uses a 5-speed gearbox for transmission duties.
The 1.5L, four cylinder diesel engine produce 88.5 BHP at 4200 rpm and 230 Nm at 1500-2500 rpm. Volkswagen even offers a track spec 1.8 liter petrol turbocharged Polo for INR 25.99 lakh. Polo GTI produces a max of 192 PS and 250 Nm while packs itself in just 3976 mm of overall length.
