2018 Volkswagen T-Roc Compact SUV Unveiled

At times when popularity for compact SUVs is all-time high, Volkswagen unveiled their much awaited T-Roc SUV internationally. Whether it be Jeep Compass or Hyundai Creta, these premium class SUVs are loved for their practical size and loads of utility.

T-Roc was first seen at 2014 Geneva Motor Show and could get an official debut around early 2019. The SUV may feel compact but it nothing less in any way when compared to others for this segment. T-Roc measures 4234 mm in length, 1819 mm in width and 1573 mm in height. The wheelbase for the new car measures 2603 mm.

Design of T-Roc is mostly derived from the concept version, flaunting heavy wheel arches and thin headlights for next generation design approach. Daytime running lights and cornering lamps were moved to the lower bumper section. The DRLs act as indicators with Orange light whenever the turn signal gets used on T-Roc.

The compact dimensions of the SUV are compared directly with Volkswagen Golf, resulting in 21 mm of lesser length, 21 mm wide body and 120 mm of overall height raise. Interiors are derived more or less from the same car but carry additional colored bits on T-Roc.

Buyers will have 445 liters of boot space, 8 inch touchscreen infotainment display, 11.3 inch active display instrument console and 300-watt Bose sound system in the top most trim. They will offer 3 petrol and two diesel engine, all of them turbocharged and carrying an option between 6-speed manual or 7-speed DSG. Other variation on offer will include front wheel as well as 4Motion four wheel drive on the T-Roc.

Apart from that, they will offer optional safety package including road sign display, lane change assist, traffic jam assist, blind spot detection, parking assistant, high beam assist and emergency assist. As far as the pricing is concerned, VW T-Roc would be priced around 20,000 Euros (INR 15 Lakh, Approx.). If T-Roc comes to India, it would be competing with the likes of Jeep Compass and Hyundai Creta.
