The Volkswagen Polo and Vento are the two famous cars by the company. The cars have received minimal updates since the time of their introduction in the Indian market. Recently, the company has rolled out another round of facelift for the Polo and the Vento aiming to add a new fresh look into the ageing models. The 2019 Volkswagen Polo is priced between INR 5.82 lakh to INR 9.88 lakh, while the Volkswagen Vento facelift is priced between INR 8.76 to INR 14.49 lakh. The prices mentioned here are ex-showroom.
Going by the looks, the 2019 Volkswagen Polo and Vento get an updated honeycomb-mesh grille, tail-lights and front bumper. The update adds a dash of sportiness to the appearance of both the cars. The updated models also get gunmetal-finish alloy wheels in a new design.
For safety purpose, all the variants of the Polo and Vento now get a seat-belt reminder system, rear parking sensors, and a speed alert system. Dual airbags and ABS have been standard across the 2018 Polo and Vento range, and these two safety features remain unchanged on the 2019 models.
Mechanically, the Polo continues with the 76HP, 1.0-litre petrol and the 90HP, 1.5-litre diesel engine options. The GT variants of the car continue with the BS-IV compliant engine options which include a 105HP, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine and a 110HP, 1.5-litre diesel engine.
But these two engine options will be phased out when the BS-VI emission norms will come into effect on April 1, 2020. The 2019 Vento also continues with the same set of engines which include a 1.6-litre petrol engine with 105HP of maximum power, a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine with 105HP and a 110HP 1.5-litre diesel engine.
The 2019 VW Polo hatchback will rival with the likes of Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, Maruti Suzuki Swift, and the Ford Figo whereas the updated model of the Vento sedan will compete against Honda City, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Skoda Rapid, and the Hyundai Verna.
