Goodbye Volkswagen Polo! Legend Edition Launched at Rs 10.25 Lakh

Despite having other prominent models in the country, Polo has always remained the star player for Volkswagen since its launch in 2010. However, the sales figures for the past 12 years were not so impressive, with around 3 lakh units only, but still, its Indian fans love it. The German automaker didn’t offer any major updates to the car in the past years, but the Polo held its place significantly and other models kept entering or exiting our country.

Now, to commemorate its wonderful 12-year journey in India and say goodbye to the country’s market, the brand has launched the limited “Legend” Edition. The final 700 units of the hatch will be offered in this special edition with an ex-showroom price of Rs 10.25 lakh. It’s also worth noting here that the car will be sold at all the Volkswagen authorised dealerships across the country; however, the booking process will be discontinued from June this year.

As for the design of the new edition, the manufacturer has made some tweaks to its exteriors, such as the addition of the “Legend” logo on the fender and boot badge, along with black graphics on the side profile. Under the hood, the limited edition hatch remains the same with a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine that churns out 110 PS and 175 Nm of max torque and is combined with a 6-speed torque-convertor automatic transmission as standard.

Besides this, Volkswagen also confirmed that the service and spare parts for the Polo will be available for the next 10 years. Speaking of the launch of the Legend edition of the car in India, Ashish Gupta, Brand Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India, stated, “From its market introduction till date, the Volkswagen Polo has enjoyed the privilege of being the first car for a family… The Volkswagen Polo is the brand’s much-loved product that deserves a grand celebration. For this, the brand is introducing the celebratory limited “Legend edition” for the enthusiasts who will take pride in owning the last limited units of the iconic Polo.”
