Volvo only had two SUVs in their lineup in India until last month, the XC60 and the XC90. However, they decided to bring the XC40 to the market, to compete against the entry-level luxury SUVs like the BMW X1, the Mercedes-Benz GLA, and the Audi Q3. The bookings for the new compact luxury SUV and the sales for the same have begun at the dealerships of the company.
As per reports, the sales are showing good numbers and have proven that Volvo has come up with a remarkable product that is hit with the markets till now, the dealers having received a respectable number of bookings for the smallest Volvo SUV ever. Earlier today, Martial Motors in Bangalore delivered a whopping 12 XC40s to customers.
Up front, one can see the signature Volvo Thor-hammer headlamps, a large front grille, short overhangs, and 18” 5-spoke alloy wheels. The rear features a raked windshield which is accented by the integrated roof spoiler, twin chrome exhausts, and L-shaped LED tail-lamps.
The interior is minimalistic and is finished in all-black. There are features like wireless mobile phone charging point, heated front and rear seats, 750W 12 speaker Harman Kardon sound system and Volvo’s 9.0” portrait-oriented touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which come as standard on the compact SUV.
Like all the other Volvos, the XC40 is also the safest car in the segment. There are standard safety features such as airbags, ABS, adaptive cruise control, run off road mitigation, oncoming lane mitigation, and blind spot alerts. The engine on the SUV is a powerful 2.0 litre, 4 cylinder diesel engine which produces a maximum power of 190 hp and a peak torque of 400 Nm. This engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox and the all-wheel-drive system is standard.
