After the successful sale of the first 200 units of XC40 R-Design, Volvo has launched two other variants for the compact urban SUV. The introductory price for the R-Design variant is no more valid, leaving the much-loved model at INR 42.90 lakh.
Volvo has introduced a Momentum variant at INR 39.90 lakh while Inscription comes for INR 43.90 lakh worth price tag. Buyers booking any of these three variants can pay INR 2 lakh as the booking amount. Deliveries for the same will begin next month.
The Inscription variant comes with different set of alloy wheels, a different grille finish, driftwood interior finish, crystal gear knob, charging slot in the boot area, exterior chrome elements and electric folding rear seat headrest. The middle spec R-Design XC40 comes with wireless charging option, Harman Kardon 12-speaker system, heated seats, adaptive cruise control and a rear power tailgate.
The newly launched Momentum trim comes with a 9-inch Volvo infotainment system, a different set of 18-inch alloy wheels and cruise control. It misses on important smart features and hence, does not prove itself as a value for money alternative to most other SUVs. Buyers have an option for Mercedes Benz, BMW and Audi products at this price range.
All three models are powered by the same 2.0L, four-cylinder diesel engine, producing 190 HP and 400 Nm of torque. All three models of XC40 are four-wheel drive equipped and use an excellent 8-speed automatic gearbox for smooth gearshifts.
Volvo XC40 keeps the level of safety intact in all three variants through eight airbags, blind spot detection, lane keep assist, cruise control, emergency braking, pilot assist, traction control, hill descent control and ESP. Buyers of the R-Design variant will need to spend INR 3 lakh more than the initial price, while Inscription proves to be the most value for money variant for its level of sophistication.
