Xiaomi Might Start Selling Electric Cars in India

Xiaomi Cars! These two words are equally surprising and shocking at the same time. One of the top smartphone seller in India, Xiaomi is known for its innovation filled smartphones and accessories for everyday life. They are already into electric two wheeler segment in China.

They have fold-able electric bicycles and full sized scooters in their Chinese lineup. Their plan to expand their Indian lineup through electric cars is a great option as Xiaomi has always portrayed themselves as pocket friendly and people friendly technology giant. Parallel to this approach, they will even enter the payments bank business for diversification.

Xiaomi Cars Coming to India?

Xiaomi is willing to sell all types of vehicles, including those for personal and public transport in the coming times. They have even mentioned that other sources of power can also be used with the electricity part. Xiaomi’s diverse nature of products can be seen in healthcare, gaming, computer and clothing section in China.

Indian market is still limited to electronics section. Xiaomi is preparing to launch all these products in both offline and online market in India. This will take a lot more time than one can expect but taking things in the right way at the right time can make things easy for Xiaomi.

Electric market has the least number of opponents in India. Mahindra is one major brand in this segment, offering multiple products like E2O Plus and Verito under the electric platform. Xiaomi cars and bikes would first rival brands like Mahindra and Hero Electric.

India currently has a market share of just 25,000 units of electric vehicles annually. This number is almost nothing as the lease selling car from a reputed brand has more units on its side. Before 2020, brands will speed up the process of electrification and before that, they have a clean chance to make a name in this presently unknown industry.
