In an announcement made by the well-known two-wheeler manufacturing brands, TVS Motor and Bajaj Auto, it has been revealed that they will bury their 12-year old legal battle and will try to resolve their differences over a patent case.

In the official statements issued by both the companies on October 31, 2019, they said they have entered into a settlement agreement. According to the announcement, they will try to resolve their issues regarding a dispute related to alleged infringement of Bajaj’s patent, defamation suit by TVS Motor against Bajaj, and other related proceedings filed against each other.

This case was pending for 12 years before the Madras High Court, the Bombay High Court, the Intellectual Property Appellate Board, Chennai, as well as in the courts of Sri Lanka and Mexico. In a filing with the stock exchange, TVS Motor and Bajaj Auto responded in similar statements and said, “Both TVS Motor and Bajaj Auto have mutually agreed to withdraw the pending proceedings and release each other from all liabilities, claims, demands and actions in respect of the pending proceedings.”

Both the companies do not require to pay any compensation or penalty as apart of the settlement. In addition to that, it has been reported that there will be no impact on the financial position of Bajaj Auto due to the pact.

In order to clear the dust, we dug deep into the history and found out that Bajaj Auto had filed a case to restrain TVS Motor from selling its two-wheeler TVS Flame in the market as the brand doubted that TVS had infringed the patent on Bajaj’s DTS-i (Digital Twin Spark Plug ignition) technology.

According to Bajaj, the Flame’s CCVTi technology was a copy of its DTS-i technology whereas TVS denied Bajaj’s allegation and filed a ₹250-crore defamation case against the brand. After the recent announcement, the shares of Bajaj Auto rose by 0.79% whereas shares of TVS Motors fell by 2.13% on the BSE.

Bajaj is on a launching spree with a host of BS6 updates coming in the next few months under the KTM, Pulsar and Dominar moniker. As per the latest buzz, the 2020 Bajaj Dominar 400 with a BS6-compliant engine will be launched in the Indian market after April next year.

In addition to this, the brand has recently launched its first-ever electric scooter by the name Bajaj Chetak. The brand will launch the BS6 model of the Dominar 400 after the implementation of the new emission norms in the country on April 1, 2020.

The launch of the 2020 Bajaj Dominar 400 has been delayed as the brand does not want to make a BS6 model compete with the heavily-discounted BS4 models available in the market.

Commenting on the launch of BS6 compliant variants in the brand’s portfolio, Rakesh Sharma, Executive Director, Bajaj Auto stated – “We have a robust pipeline of launches for the next 18 months. Our problem is sequencing. These are Husqvarna, high-end KTMs, Dominars, Pulsar and other variants. One might see a lull between now and April, though there are a couple of introductions and an accelerated product introduction after April 2020.”

Adding to his statement, Mr Rakesh stated: “The launches will accelerate post-BS-VI because we don’t want to handicap a new product with BS-VI cost while competing with BS-IV players.”

Autologue Design recently worked on a practical yet head-turning Pulsar NS200 adventure concept for those who love their existing motorcycle but wish to get more out of the same through part swapping and added accessories.

The Bajaj Pulsar NS200 adventure concept features a tall windscreen in a matt black finish while the same can be had with different levels of transparency. The lower-placed fender on the stock model of the motorcycle has been replaced with a high-mounted beak-like design, which is similar to the majority of adventure motorcycles.

The Bajaj Pulsar NS200 adventure concept is equipped with off-road tyres that carry thick treads and thus, can be useful when riding in conditions like the mud, gravel, and sand. The rear fender has been given a miss on the concept motorcycle while the biggest change can be spotted near the fuel tank section.

The extended tank shrouds of the stock model of the Pulsar NS200 have been replaced with a custom extended fairing. In addition to this, the engine section is protected by a bash plate on the concept model of NS200 by Autologue Design. The last addition to the model is the knuckle protectors with a dual-tone finish.

The Bajaj Pulsar NS200 is powered by a 199.5cc liquid-cooled carburetted single-cylinder engine that is capable to generate a maximum power of 23.5HP with a peak torque of 18.3Nm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox.

The elements added here raises the practicality quotient of the motorcycle and thus, spending a decent amount on these additions is better than spending a huge sum on a totally new adventure bike for your occasional rides. The stock version of the NS200 is available in four shades and can be had with 1-channel ABS for INR 1.14 lakh (ex-showroom).

Some motorcycle modifications are bound to blow your mind with the overall result. One such modification of Bajaj Pulsar NS200 into Kawasaki Z1000 by Leeat Motor from Vietnam has made to our “worth-mentioning” list. The modifiers have offered a quite aggressive look to the motorcycle that matches perfectly with the highly-aggressive Kawasaki Z1000 naked sports machine.

Coming to the front design, the motorcycle gets an edgy headlight plus visor setup inspired from the Z1000 while the custom fuel tank adds to its superior looks. The modifiers have offered the motorcycle with yellow and black detailing on the fuel tank to keep its authentic looks alive. The custom belly pan set up in addition to the wide tyres further offers the modified motorcycle a beast look. Apart from these, the front mudguard of the motorcycle has also been lifted a little bit higher.

In terms of rear profile, the modification of NS200 into Kawasaki Z1000 gets custom body panels at the rear while the stock exhaust has been replaced with a custom exhaust system flowing towards the rear. In addition to this, the tail light has also been offered a sleeker look. The modifiers have also equipped the motorcycle with a custom seat setup with a sharper pillion end.

Apart from the cosmetic changes to the body panels, there aren’t any mechanical changes made to the motorcycle. It continues to be powered by a 199.5cc, single-cylinder engine that is capable of generating a maximum power figure of 23.5HP at 9500 rpm and a peak torque of 18.3 Nm at 8000 rpm.

The engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The suspension duties are handled by telescopic forks upfront while the rear gets a monoshock absorber. The motorcycle continues to feature disc brake at either end while LeeAT Motor has equipped this modified Pulsar NS200 with a Z1000-inspired all-digital instrument console.

New Bajaj Dominar vs Old Bajaj Dominar (Quick Comparison): Bajaj Auto launched the much-awaited 2019 Dominar in India earlier this year with an ex-showroom price tag of INR 1.74 lakh. After the recent price hikes, the motorcycle is now available for INR 1.90 lakh. The new model has undergone a complete performance transformation in the 2019 variant, gaining just 2kg of weight and taking the overall power output to 40HP.

The 2018 version was good for 35HP of power, criticized by many as the Bajaj’s inability to use the complete output from the 373cc single-cylinder engine. The 2019 Dominar 400 comes with dual exhaust exits, USD front forks with a metallic finish and chrome-finished dual-tone alloy wheels. The six-speed gearbox stays the same but features a different setting for improved in-gear acceleration.

New Bajaj Dominar 400 comes with the same 320mm front and 230mm rear disc brake setup. Both the brakes are available with ABS as standard. The improved power figure of 40HP is achieved at 8650 rpm while the torque remains similar at 35 Nm but is now achieved at 7000 rpm. The most powerful Dominar of all time, the 2019 variant comes with an updated instrument console with dot-matrix alerts and warning messages in the display. If you own a Bajaj Pulsar 150 and feel like it’s high time to upgrade the motorcycle visually, the Avery Dennison gloss sky blue wrap by Chennai-based Stealth Wraps is the best thing that can happen to your motorcycle. The bike can be seen with additional gloss black shade to create the perfect contrast.

The headlight is smoked while the rear alloy wheel is painted in the same finish as the wrapped fuel tank. The cost of the dual-tone wrap is around INR 4500-5000 while those looking for the painted parts like rear alloy wheel and grabrail will need to spend INR 1200 extra.

Bajaj Pulsar 150 is the highest-selling model of its class and it competes with the likes of TVS Apache RTR 160 and the Honda xBlade 160. The use of gloss sky blue and black colour combination on the Pulsar 150 Avery Dennison helps it attain an exclusive look.

The 149cc, single-cylinder air-cooled carburetted engine on the motorcycle is good for 14HP of maximum power and 13.4 Nm of maximum torque. The motorcycle costs INR 89,837 (ex-showroom) for the dual-disc single-channel ABS model while those looking for a budget-friendly product can get their hands on the Pulsar 150 Neon for INR 71,200 (ex-showroom).

As per one of the recent reports, the Pune Smart City Development Corporation Limited (PSCDCL) has added a fleet of 80 Bajaj Pulsar 150 motorcycles. Apart from getting the traffic police colours, the motorcycles are equipped with a host of new features to assist the cops on duty. All the 80 new motorcycles have been updated in a white colour shade while getting traffic police sirens and more.

The front end of the Bajaj Pulsar traffic police motorcycles has been equipped with a windshield that features a ‘Pune City Traffic Branch’ sticker. In addition to this, every motorcycle features standard traffic police requirements such as GPS, camera, and jammers.

The left front guard features a megaphone while the traffic police riders can further operate the lighting and sound controls from just below the ignition. The controls also allow the riders to choose the flashing and blinking lights when required while playing sirens of varying tones.

Some of the traffic police motorcycles have been further equipped with a slot for placing the neon-lit baton on the fuel tank. The patrolling officer can further use the speaker function to relay his message to the team without having to stop the patrol. The camera module situated on the front console offers video recording while at the same time offering clearer views of the road.

The custom headlight design gives the motorcycle a sturdy appeal while the red indicator at the left and blue indicator at the right does justice to the police fleet of bikes. The tail light of the motorcycles is larger in comparison to the one on the stock model, specifically designed to ensure visibility. Apart from the cosmetic changes appropriate for patrolling cops, the Bajaj Pulsar 150 remains mechanically unaltered.
