The updated model of Bajaj Pulsar NS200 Fi with ABS was recently spotted outside India in a new set of shades for the international markets. The motorcycle comes with white/silver fuel tank and a gloss black rear under seat panel on all three shades. The difference can be seen on the FI monikers, finished in Neon Yellow, Neon Blue, and Neon Red on the three colour options. The matching pinstripes on the alloy wheels are another way to differentiate all three of them.

As Bajaj Auto manufactures the NS200 in India and exports the same to different markets, the same colour combination is expected to make its way to our country along with the launch of the fuel-injected model.

As the BS6 emission norms will come into effect starting from April 1, 2020, Bajaj Auto would be updating the fuel-injected engine of the Pulsar RS200 to make it BS6-compliant, and the same engine will also be used in the updated model of the NS200 in India.

The fuel-injected RS200 is good for 24.5 HP of maximum power at 9750 rpm and 18.6 Nm of maximum torque at 8000 rpm. The non-fuel injected NS200 generates 23.5 HP and 18.3 Nm. The gearbox stays 6-speed in both cases.

Bajaj recently also launched an ad campaign showing their presence in more than 70 countries and their newly introduced NS200 model seems another step towards better sales in the international markets. NS200 is a great machine with a balanced streetfighter design and stylish fuel tank extensions that are nowadays adopted by most bikes of the same category.

Bajaj Auto recently introduced single-channel ABS to its Pulsar DTS-i lineup and the Pulsar range now starts from INR 68,250 for the 150 Neon model. The Fi model of NS200 was earlier expected to launch in India by mid-2019 but as per the latest details available, the Fi+ABS model will now launch by Diwali (October 2019). The updated version is expected to be priced around INR 1.20 lakh (ex-showroom).

Bajaj-KTM Electric 2-Wheeler in the Works: Recently in an interview with the Economic Times, the company’s executive director, Rakesh Sharma said – “We are developing prototypes across the bay, however, what will come out first is a question that we will be addressing very shortly. But it should happen this year. We are quite keen on electric. It is an important development for the future and to prepare and learn from this development as it unfolds.”

He also said that the company is planning to bring its first electric vehicle in the current fiscal (April 2019 – March 2020). Bajaj-KTM is all set to develop a common 48-volt electric two-wheeler platform that will be used by both the brands. The platform will support various product types like scooters, mopeds, and small mopeds.

The products that will be produced will have a power output in the range of 3kW to 10kW. Also, the products will be manufactured in India. The production for the same will commence in Pune in the year 2022. KTM already sells electric powered two-wheelers in some of the select international markets. One of the products is known as KTM E-ride. This electric bike produces a peak power output of 18kW, which is much more than the electric two-wheelers that are going to be manufactured in India.

Recently, the Bajaj’s upcoming electric scooter, which will come under the brand name ”Urbanite” was spotted testing on the Indian roads. Bajaj is getting ready if the government mandates the sale of only electric two-wheelers in the coming 5-7 years. Also, it is expected that the company is expected to bring back its iconic brand names like Chetak, Legend, and Stride that will arrive under the Urbanite brand.

The upcoming scooter by Bajaj will come in a pack with retro styling that will be accompanied by modern features. It will come with advanced features which are most likely to include an LED headlight and tail lamp, an all-digital instrument console, and an under-seat USB Charger.

2019 Bajaj Platina 110 with Highway Gear is an important product when considering a commuter motorcycle for mixed riding conditions. The Platina series is a segment leader for 110cc motorcycles, and the upgraded Platina 110 H-Gear comes with a five-speed gearbox that was once seen under the Discover nameplate. Apart from that, here are the five must-know facts for the motorcycle.

5 Must-Know Facts About 2019 Bajaj Platina

1) H-Gear Tech and Gear Shift Guide – The H-Gear (Highway Gear) technology enables the rider to enjoy cruising speeds with lesser stress on the engine. Regular motorcycles may feel stressed around 60 kph but, the Platina 110 H-Gear will help the rider achieve more through the fifth gear. The ‘Gear Shift Guide’ will help an amateur rider know the optimum point for a gear change on the display.

2) Informative Semi-Digital Console – The semi-digital console of the motorcycle is very informative as buyers get analogue speedometer along with a display that handles service reminder, battery health indicator, and gear shift guide. The fuel indicator is situated on the extreme right side while a digital clock can be seen in the middle of all these values.

3) Powerful and Fuel Efficient Engine – The 115cc, single cylinder engine is good for 8.6 HP at 7000 rpm and 9.81 Nm at 5000 rpm. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The engine is good for approx 80 kmpl of mileage and that value can be actually achieved when riding around 60 kph on the highway. The mileage has always been a strong point for the Platina 110.

4) Front Disc Brake and ASBS – Not every 110cc motorcycle of India offers a disc brake as an option but on the new Platina, the availability of the Anti-Skid Baking System (ASBS) and a 240mm front disc brake takes the total safety level up by a margin. The motorcycle is available with a rear drum brake measuring 110mm in diameter.

5) Pricing and Key Rivals – The motorcycle is priced at INR 53,376 for the base variant and INR 55,373 for the disc brake variant. Not just that, the model feels much more value for money than direct rivals namely Honda Livo and Hero Splendor iSmart. The other rivals include TVS Victor and Star City Plus in the country. The 2019 Bajaj Platina H-Gear is available in 3 colours: Black/Blue, Black/Burgundy, and Wine Red.

Bajaj has officially launched the Platina 110 H-Gear in India, and the motorcycle has already started reaching the showrooms. Rajiv Bajaj recently admitted that though commuter motorcycles don’t make much money for the brand, given the sheer size of the segment, the company cannot afford to neglect it.

The newly-launched Platina 110 H-Gear is significantly an improved version of the existing Platina Comfortec 110. The H-gear stands for ‘Highway Gear’, and according to Bajaj Auto, the fifth gear has been optimised for delivering the right mix of pickup and fuel economy on long-distance highway riding.

Coming to looks, the styling of the bike has not changed much as the new version sports refreshed graphics, has got improved seats with contoured seat cover and 3D Platina lettering on the fuel tank. The alloy wheels remain black-finished like the last-gen model.

Also, the Platina 110 H-Gear sports a newly-designed semi-digital instrument cluster with an analogue speedometer. The backlit digital display offers a gear shift indicator which also warns the rider if the motorcycle is ridden in the wrong gear, plus the console also displays a service reminder, a fuel gauge, an odometer, a digital clock, and a low battery warning indicator.

Unlike the earlier models of Platina with 4-speed transmission, the Bajaj Platina H-Gear 110 is equipped with a 5-speed gearbox which shifts in an all-down pattern. The 115cc DTS-i engine is retained without any changes. It generates the same 8.6 HP of maximum power at 7000 rpm and 9.81 Nm of peak torque at 5000 rpm. Moreover, because of the updated gear ratios, the overall mileage is expected to get marginal improvement.

For braking performance, the bike gets an optional 240mm front disc brake and a 110mm rear drum brake. The motorcycle gets mandatory combi braking system and Bajaj Auto promotes it as Anti-Skid Brake System (ASBS). For suspension duties, the bike gets telescopic forks at front and nitrox charged shock absorbers at the rear end. The tubeless tyres have been retained without any changes on either end.

Talking about the pricing, the bike is available at INR 53,376 for the drum brake option and INR 55,373 for the disc brake variant. The prices mentioned here are ex-showroom. The motorcycle is available in 3 shades: Black/Blue, Black/Burgundy, and Wine Red. The Platina 110 H-Gear will compete against the Honda Dream Yuga, TVS Star City Plus, and the Hero Splendor iSmart Plus in the Indian market.

Bajaj Pulsar NS125 has been officially launched in Colombia at 4,699,000 peso (INR 97,000). It was also launched in Poland last year for PLN 7,999 (INR 1.46 lakh approx). At present, the India launch plans are uncertain for the youngest Pulsar. The motorcycle is special in itself, leaving Indian fans stunned by Bajaj’s swift action of downsizing the engine and making the machine future-ready for all markets. The BS6-ready 124.45cc, single cylinder fuel-injected engine used on the Pulsar NS125 is good for 12 HP of maximum power at 8500 rpm and 11 Nm of torque at 6000 rpm. The engine is mated to a 5-speed gearbox.

The combination of decent peak power and abundance of torque for this segment makes it the most powerful 125cc engine from the manufacturer. The design seen here is directly derived from Pulsar 135LS, further making tweaks like the matte finished exhaust, dual tone livery with grey tank extensions, divided seats and better tires. The colour schemes are inspired by the bigger Pulsar NS200 in the company lineup, carrying the same sort of placement and division of base as well as grey shade over the body. The Poland-specific Bajaj website claims 126.5 kg of wet weight.

Pulsar NS125 measures 1,995mm in length, 765mm in width and 1,045mm in height. The overall ground clearance is 170mm while the fuel tank capacity stands at 10.5 litres. The motorcycle is equipped with a 240mm front disc brake and a 130mm rear drum brake. The availability of CBS hints that the motorcycle has been made with the intention to keep it ready for the Indian market but, some reports even claim that Bajaj Auto is scrapping the plan of a lightweight Pulsar for India. Bajaj Auto is one among India’s largest exporters of two-wheelers, with local sales and export numbers sometimes clashing with each other.

A majority of buyers are looking for value for money bikes in India and the 2019 Bajaj Dominar 400 has eventually topped the list due to its class-leading features and mind-boggling price. BMW-Motorrad launched the G310R in India for INR 2.99 lakh, leaving many fans with emotional pain and hopes falling short of expectations. It may not sound like a straightforward comparison for hundreds of BMW fans but, the New Bajaj Dominar 400 needs some formal praise for being highly affordable and equally practical. Here are five reasons why considering 2019 Bajaj Dominar is a good option over the BMW G310R.

BMW G310R
BMW G310R

5 Reasons Why 2019 Bajaj Dominar is a Better Buy than the BMW G310R

1) Value for Money

New Dominar 400 is priced at INR 1.74 lakh, and it is placed much lower in comparison to the BMW G310R at INR 2.99 lakh. The price gap of INR 1.25 lakh is unjustified in all terms, and BMW-Motorrad seems to be using the brand name for extra cash-in as the fully-faired Apache RR 310 at INR 2.10 lakh is priced INR 89,000 lower in comparison to the G310R in Kerala. 2019 Bajaj Dominar 400 offers excellent value for money and it is the most feature-loaded motorcycle in its class. The prices mentioned here are ex-showroom.

2) Performance Difference

BMW G310R uses a 313cc, single cylinder engine producing 34HP and 28Nm. When compared to Bajaj Dominar 400, the values feel dull and unexciting. The 373cc, single cylinder engine on the New Dominar 400 is sufficient for 40HP and 35Nm. The additional weight on the Dominar is managed by the extra torque, claiming much higher top speed (165 kph, approx.) than the BMW roadster (143 kmph, company claimed).

2019 Bajaj Dominar 400
2019 Bajaj Dominar 400

3) Spare Part Availability/Price

After spending a tremendous amount on G310R, buyers will get continuous shocks in the form of spare part availability and pricing. Being a BMW, G310R will bring greater bills for each service. Even the TVS Apache RR 310 has a higher cost for essential parts than other bikes around this segment. Dominar 400 is not just affordable but, also cares for your pocket at later stages of ownership.

4) Dealer Touch-points & Service Centres

BMW Motorrad has a limited number of dealer touch-points in India. Bajaj Auto, on the other hand, offers Dominar from its long list of dealerships. The difference is incomparable, leaving Dominar 400 as a more practical option. Servicing and other after-sales tasks are easily manageable when choosing Bajaj Dominar 400.

5) Equipment & Components

BMW G310R and the 2019 Bajaj Dominar, are powered by a single cylinder, fuel injected, and liquid cooled engine. Both the motorcycles also offer USD forks, 2-channel ABS, wide tires and digital instrument console as standard. Dominar comes with additional equipment like a slipper clutch and LED headlight. We can safely say the 2019 Bajaj Dominar is definitely a better buy than the BMW G310R.

Bajaj Pulsar RS400 to Get New Dominar’s Engine: Bajaj Auto is here with a new 373.3cc DOHC engine that uses triple spark technology, in house developed ECU and different gearing than the one seen on the last-gen Dominar. The updated engine is performing under the 2019 Dominar nameplate and brings 40 HP of maximum power. Bajaj Auto is losing a big share from the commuter-centric market and they are preparing to gain almost 3-4% from the Indian market through a different level of products in the coming months.

Bajaj Pulsar RS400
Bajaj Pulsar RS400 to Get New Dominar’s DOHC Engine

Bajaj Pulsar RS400, the worthy performance upgrade to RS200, has the highest chances of getting this new powertrain as Avenger 400 would not be tuned to a higher spec version than Dominar 400. The trend has been always visible among Bajaj Pulsar 220F and the Avenger 220 Cruise.

If Bajaj doesn’t want TVS to enjoy a chunk of premium bike sale through the Apache RR 310, a product like Pulsar RS400 is the best bet within this segment. Presently, Dominar 400 is the flagship product for Bajaj Auto. The 2019 model of Dominar 400 is available with a price tag of INR 1.74 lakh while the Pulsar RS400 could arrive at around INR 2 lakh. The prices mentioned here are ex-showroom.

2019 Bajaj Dominar
2019 Bajaj Dominar

Being a worthy product, the Dominar still could not eat into the huge 50,000+ units monthly sales figure of Royal Enfield Classic 350. The on-road price tag of around INR 1.80 lakh is the benchmark for five digit sales as no other product around this price tag (except RE Bullet) has entered the five-digit club.

The entry of the Pulsar RS400 will again ignite the hope of Bajaj Auto for getting some share out of this future friendly performance sports bike segment. Bajaj unveiled the Pulsar SS400 concept in 2014 but unfortunately, it didn’t make into production. Let’s hope Bajaj launches the Pulsar RS400 this year to compete with the likes of TVS Apache RR 310 and the Honda CBR250R.

As everyone is familiar with the start of a brand partnership era, Bajaj Auto and Triumph are working on a motorcycle that is expected to fall right into the category of the Harley-Davidson Street 750 and the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650. As per the latest details available, the Bajaj-Triumph motorcycle is expected to launch in early 2020.

Benefits from the new product will vary for both the manufacturers as Triumph will get affordable manufacturing while Bajaj may get their hands on the higher capacity engine for their future projects.

Currently, the most affordable Triumph motorcycle in India is the Street Twin at INR 7.45 lakh. Bajaj Auto, on the other hand, restricts its motorcycle range to wide range of audience till INR 1.74 lakh. They also manufacture KTM products ranging till INR 2.48 lakh but retail them under a totally separate performance moniker.

As Bajaj Auto partnered KTM and helped them become the number one sport bike seller of its segment, Triumph expects the same magic in a much bigger engine segment than KTM. They are better known for their powerful street performance motorcycles and most probably, would use Bajaj’s experience in manufacturing a product at a much lower cost than Triumph’s present lineup.

Triumph’s modern classic range will see a fresh face in the coming months and that would be successfully exported to all existing markets of the British manufacturer. If presently surfacing reports are to be believed, the Bajaj-Triumph motorcycle would be priced around INR 4-5 lakh (ex-showroom).

Bajaj-Triumph will first bring a 2-cylinder product around 600-650cc segment and then they will enter the single cylinder segment at a later stage. Bajaj and Triumph have not hinted about an official unveil date but we expect to see a new camouflaged machine running on the Indian roads soon for sure.
