Mahindra has recently confirmed the news of bringing electric 2-wheelers to the Indian market. The company was one of the primary brands that brought electric vehicles in the nation but stayed aloof from the idea of entering the electric two-wheeler business. The multinational Indian company is planning to unveil electric 2-wheelers that will be specifically designed according to the needs of the country.

At the 73rd annual general meeting, the chairman of Mahindra & Mahindra responded to a query and replied, “We are watching this space. We have some plans up our sleeve. We will have a locally manufactured two-wheeler”. The company already has electric two-wheelers being retailed in the US market like the GenZe 2.0 that offers a range of 56kms and is priced at $3,699 (INR 2.63 lakh approx) though, the India-spec model is expected to be priced around INR 1 lakh (ex-showroom).

Mahindra’s upcoming electric 2-wheeler will compete in the market with the likes of Ather 450, which is one of the best-known lithium-ion battery-powered two-wheelers in India. Mahindra is in the middle of developing at least four new electric two-wheelers and a number of electric mini trucks, which will be hitting the market in the coming three years.

The company’s recent ventures include the comeback of the classic Jawa motorcycles. In the 2-wheeler segment, Mahindra rivals brands like Hero MotorCorp, TVS Motors and Bajaj Auto. The brand will also face competition from a number of startups that will also be bringing their electric two-wheelers soon in the market.

According to the yearly sales report, in 2018, around 1.26 lakh electric two-wheelers were sold in India in comparison to 2017, where 54,800 units were sold. The sales report was released by the Society of Manufacturers of Electric Vehicles (SMEV). At present, the Government of India is providing a direct subsidy that ranges between INR 7,000 to INR 22,000 on electric two-wheelers.

The motorcycle is currently available in single solid colours while there has been no confirmation if the brand will be offering dual-tone colour schemes for their recently updated motorcycle. The Blue colour variant of the motorcycle has been inspired from the previously available Mojo UT300 though, the front fender and the tail section of the motorcycle has also been given the blue colour treatment for the 2019 version.

The 2019 Mahindra Mojo 300 ABS has been officially launched in India with an ex-showroom price tag of INR 1.89 lakh. The motorcycle is primarily an improved version of the older model, carrying certain changes that have resulted in one instead of two different models in the lineup.

The ABS model of Mojo has replaced both the UT300 and the XT300 in the Indian market. The 2019 version of the Mahindra Mojo 300 will compete with the likes of BMW G310R, KTM 250 Duke, Bajaj Dominar 400, Honda CB300R, and other similar sized products.

Mechanically, the updated Mojo 300 is powered by a 294.72cc fuel-injected, DOHC, liquid-cooled engine which is good enough to generate 25.93 HP of maximum power at 7500 rpm and 28 Nm of peak torque at 5500 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed transmission.

In terms of dimensions, the 2019 Mahindra Mojo 300 ABS is 2115mm in length, 800mm in width and 1150mm in height. The wheelbase of the bike is 1460mm while it has a ground clearance of 165mm. The fuel tank capacity of the bike is 21-litres, and the kerb weight stands at 181.5 kg.

Mahindra has ditched the dual exhaust pipe setup for a single metallic unit like the Mojo UT300 while the brake callipers have been sourced from ByBre. The controversial twin headlights have also been retained on the 2019 model. The brand has equipped the ABS model of Mojo with Pirelli Angel CT tyres.

In terms of suspension, the 2019 Mahindra Mojo 300 comprises of conventional telescopic forks at the front and a gas-charged monoshock absorber at the rear end. The braking performance of the bike is handled by a 320mm single disc with a fixed radial calliper at the front and a 240mm single disc with an axial floating calliper for the rear. The updated model is equipped with a dual-channel ABS unit as standard.

Mahindra Mojo ABS Price Leaked Ahead of Launch: Mahindra is all set to make an official launch announcement for its 2019 Mojo 300 with dual-channel ABS soon. The price tag of the updated Mojo 300 has leaked online before its official launch.

Powering the updated Mahindra Mojo 300 is the same 294.72cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled fuel-injected engine, which now offers a maximum power of 26.29 PS at 7,500 rpm in comparison to the 27.19 PS and 23.11 PS generated by Mojo XT 300 and Mojo UT 300 respectively. The suspension duties are handled by the same telescopic forks at the front with 143.5mm of travel and a monoshock rear absorber capable of 135mm of travel that does the duty on the Moto UT 300. The 320mm disc brake at the front and 240mm disc brake at the rear of the motorcycle are now equipped with ABS for additional safety.

One of the significant changes made to the updated motorcycle is the use of brake callipers sourced from ByBre that replaces the J.Juan braking hardware. The motorcycle uses Pirelli Angel CT tyres while the twin headlights from the Mojo are retained on the 2019 model though the LED DRLs remains missing.

The bike will be offered with fuel injection technology as standard due to upcoming BS6 norms. The brand has equipped the updated Mojo 300 with single barrel exhaust borrowed from the UT 300 that will replace the twin exhaust seen on the XT 300.

As per the latest details available, Classic Legends will reportedly launch the BSA and Yezdi brands in India next year. It is expected that the brand may also showcase the prototype motorcycles at the Auto Expo in February 2020.

BSA came into the spotlight with Mahindra announcing an all-new product, hinting at another superstar entry like the Jawa 300 and Jawa 42 for the Indian market. The displacement expectations from the BSA brand are double than what Jawa brought to India. Yezdi is expected to come with a 250cc engine and that makes it purely eligible for another Mahindra Mojo based motor with added character.

At present, Jawa is facing some difficulties in delivering the motorcycles on time but the brand is working hard to commit to their promises and they will be increasing the production to meet the demand. The brand believes in understanding the customer’s sentiments and are working hard to reduce the delivery time as much as possible.

The Jawa Perak, expected to be priced at INR 1.89 lakh, and using Bobber-specific design lines will directly rival every possible machine around the segment in the first half of 2020. Yezdi bikes could also get an all-new motor with smaller displacement and weight reduction to create a new, unchallenged segment of motorcycles in the country.

Mahindra has done a great job by assembling all the vintage brands with one parent company, leaving all of them with an option to share parts with existing products and lower down the cost of existence in the Indian market.

The parent brand can proportionally divide fans and fulfil their biking requirements by placing every genre of a bike into the right section. The instant popularity of Jawa’s return estimates how fans in India will welcome the nex-gen Yezdi and BSA Motorcycles. The next update on the upcoming brands is expected around Auto Expo 2020.

Mahindra Mojo 300 ABS Spotted Again: After getting an unsatisfactory sales response of Mojo 300, certain speculations of the brand discontinuing the model circulated around. The rumours have turned out to be false as the Mahindra Mojo with dual-channel ABS has been spotted recently at a dealership.

The brand has decided to keep the Mojo 300 ahead in the competition by offering a bunch of other updates to the motorcycle in addition to the 2-channel ABS unit. The newly updated Mahindra Mojo will be replacing both the XT 300 and UT 300 variants of the existing motorcycle. The 2019 model of the bike will be equipped with Pirelli Angel CT tyres as standard.

The ABS model can be seen with almost identical features as that of the Mojo’s more affordable UT 300 variant. The under-seat cowl of the motorcycle now features “300 ABS” badging while the blacked-out features with a single-sided exhaust canister and a thin tail section give it an authentic look.

The brand has also revised the rake angle for more comfortable and confident handling in the city. The 2019 model of the Mojo features telescopic forks at the front, taking inspiration from the UT 300 model. In comparison, the XT 300 variant was equipped with USD (Upside Down) front forks.

At the rear, the suspension duties are handled by a monoshock absorber. The braking power is offered by a 320mm single disc brake at the front and a 240mm single disc at the rear, further assisted by a dual-channel ABS unit.

Powering the Mahindra Mojo 300 ABS is a 295cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that is capable of generating a maximum power of 27 HP and an utmost torque of 30 Nm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The motorcycle is also equipped with fuel injection technology making it ready for the BSVI emission norms which will be in effect from April 1, 2020. The brand is expected to make the engine BS6-compliant in early 2020.

The upcoming model of Mojo 300 will compete in the market with the likes of Bajaj Dominar 400, Royal Enfield Classic 350, KTM 390 Duke, BMW G310R, TVS Apache RR 310, and the Honda CB300R. The motorcycle is expected to be priced around INR 1.70 lakh (ex-showroom).

2019 Mahindra Mojo 300 with 2-channel ABS was recently spotted before its official launch in India. The motorcycle is primarily an improved version of the older model, carrying certain changes that will result in one instead of two different models in the lineup.

The powerful engine from the XT300 and cost-effective components from the UT300 are seen under a single body to bring the same to an expected INR 1.60 lakh price tag in 2019. The tires used here are Pirelli Angel CT while suspension now stays the same as conventional UT300 forks. The front and rear disc brakes are now ABS-equipped.

Mahindra has ditched the dual exhaust pipes for this single metallic unit while brake callipers are sourced from ByBre. The twin headlights from the Mojo are retained on the 2019 model while fuel injection will now stay standard due to upcoming BS6 norms.

Mahindra will definitely share the dual channel ABS with Jawa bikes and starting price for the Mojo will be kept under the current-gen price tag of INR 1.64 lakh of the Jawa 42 with dual channel ABS. At present, the engines of all these bikes are BS6-Ready and will be made BS6-Compliant once the deadline comes near for the Indian market.

While most fans were thinking that Mahindra would have left the business due to Mojo being a non-ABS model, the recent spy shots confirm that they have no plans of leaving the segment that is becoming more popular day by day. Mahindra Mojo is an iconic name for the 300cc segment as the same entered here when most brands were not even planning to jump the 250cc barrier.

For 2019, the Mahindra Mojo 300 will rival BMW G310 series, KTM 250 Duke, Bajaj Dominar 400, Honda CB300R, and other similar sized products. The price tag of under INR 1.60 lakh will further ensure that buyers do not keep on thinking for the new Dominar while making a decision.
