Royal Enfield recently announced discounts on its select range of bike accessories, apparel and riding gear. This limited period discount starts on Jan 15, 2019. Those who take longer than usual for decision making would love to know that the offer will be available till March 1, 2019. They will offer 40% flat discount on certain products from riding gear and merchandise category. The change in pricing will reflect through their online brand store, dealership stores, and third-party vendors. Those who were not aware of Royal Enfield products will love to have reduced pricing on their gloves, jackets, helmets, eye-wear, jeans, bags and shoes. The change in prices on the official website is yet to reflect and buyers can contact the dealers for more information.

Royal Enfield products are quite specific to their retro-modern styling of motorcycles as most helmets listed here are open-faced and carry their logo on them. Still, they have some full face options for those who prefer more protection on the road. Apart from rider specific products listed above, one can shop for shirts, t-shirts, everyday jackets and much more on their official website. Even accessories like wallets, caps, belts, and key-rings are available for sale at most outlets. As many riders feel these products to be expensive in comparison to regular stores, getting 40% off makes them really worth consideration for RE lovers.

Royal Enfield is facing tough times in the era of mandatory ABS for bikes above 125cc. Not just that, the 5-year insurance rule has taken the effective on-road price up by a considerable margin. The manufacturer earlier had to cut the total number of bikes produced by 50,000 in November 2018. Now, another 50,000 unit production-cut was announced by the brand. The already manufactured number of Royal Enfield bikes is increasing at a fast pace as sales number saw a downward trend for the company. The best-selling Classic 350 was earlier retailed for INR 1.38 lakh while current price for the same is INR 1.62 lakh.

The first price hike came when they added a new swingarm and rear disc brake to the motorcycle. The addition of INR 10,000 to the price was wrong at that moment as they should have introduced both the ABS and rear disc brake at the same time. The total hike of INR 24,000 to the ex-showroom price should have been limited to just INR 15,000. Apart from this, the mandatory five-year insurance rule added four years of additional third-party cover to the on-road price. This was actually beneficial for the owners but added INR 5000 to the on-road amount.

The range of bikes now starts at INR 1.28 lakh for the dual disc Bullet 350. Also, the entry of Jawa into India made the fact sure that cult following for both the brands will divide again. Jawa may not have got such a huge number for themselves at the start but many potential Royal Enfield customers would have thought about getting more power and retro-modern styling for a minimal hike. Royal Enfield needs to work on its strategy for one more time and see how the numbers can be improved in such tough conditions.

Royal Enfield is feeling the heat with the launch of Jawa motorcycles in India. According to a recent report, the Classic 350 registered 21% drop in sales in the month of November 2018. Now, the brand has officially confirmed that they are working on two different platforms that will meet the upcoming BS6 emission norms. Most probably, the two will be none other than existing 346cc and 499cc engines with upgraded components. The BS6 Royal Enfield motorcycles are expected to launch in India in 2020.

Both Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 are already BS6 compliant while Himalayan may get itself the bigger 650cc engine in place of the present-day unit. This would mean an entire upgrade of the lineup in the coming years. The BS6 models are also expected to get updated modern digital instrument consoles in comparison to the basic present-gen analogue consoles.

Royal Enfield Classic is highest selling motorcycle in their personal lineup while Bullet and Thunderbird series is also quite popular among RE buyers. In terms of safety, the brand has already updated the Classic, Thunderbird, Himalayan, and the Thunderbird X series with 2-channel ABS. The Bullet series also got updated with front and rear disc brakes as standard.

Jawa Effect: Royal Enfield Classic 350 Sales Down by 21% in India

Royal Enfield recently launched the much-awaited 650cc twins in India. The 648cc, twin-cylinder engine claims 80% of the available torque at 2500 rpm, leaving riders with more than 40 Nm of torque before even crouching and twisting the throttle hard on a highway. The official pricing of Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 made almost everyone smile for once, offering a 650cc motorcycle for an effective ex-showroom price tag of INR 2.50 lakh. The Continental GT 650 commands a premium of INR 15,000 over the Interceptor 650.

Royal Enfield Explorer 50 is an exclusive nameplate that most fans have heard for the first time. The model seen here is a 1988 Explorer with 49cc of engine displacement and a retro 3-speed gearbox. R Deena Dayalan has a collection of classic machines and this is one of his prized possession, perfectly restored and finished in the Blue shade for a head-turning appeal. The motorcycle was purchased for a price of INR 10,000 and it took around INR 24,000 for the restoration process. Being a two-stroke motorcycle, the small engine takes the motorcycle to a top speed of 60 kph.

Explorer 50 is seen with an old Enfield logo on the fuel tank, restored suspension, and brake components. The flat seat looks very comfortable while footpegs are placed like other commuters. The motorcycle came with alloy wheels as stock while the design is quite unique in comparison to other options. Royal Enfield was known for its 350cc and 500cc engine options in the 1980s. The tyre size on the motorcycle is very thin in comparison to any Royal Enfield of that time. The engine has been completely restored to achieve that black/silver finish, similar to a new motorcycle.

The front suspension is seen with black rubber covers while the seat has a familiar white line running through the side. The headlight is rectangular in shape while the console also flaunts the Enfield logo at the front side. The motorcycle uses a raised handlebar, chrome luggage carrier and extended rear fender with body-coloured panels. The front fender is finished in chrome like the original Enfield Explorer 50. The brand is known for huge displacement motorcycles and that makes Explorer a unique offering among all others like Bullet and Thunderbird. This one even comes with tank stripes.

Royal Enfield Himalayan 650, a dream motorcycle for those who love tackling odd terrains at all times, will launch in India this year. As Royal Enfield’s CEO Siddhartha Lal has already hinted at a bigger Himalayan, one fact that comes clear is that it will share the platform with the recently launched Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650. Not just that, the brand will try its best to test the bigger Himalayan extensively before the official launch later this year. The first version of Himalayan with 411cc, single cylinder engine was highly criticized for the least amount of testing before its launch.

Royal Enfield Himalayan 650
Royal Enfield Himalayan 650 to Launch in India This Year

The current-gen motorcycle is a failure for this impressive moniker and we hope that Royal Enfield runs full efficiency testing before things are made official again. Fans have high expectations from the brand and this would be the last chance for their off-road trial. The all-new 648cc, twin-cylinder motor on the expected Himalayan 650 will retain the same tune of 47 HP at 7250 rpm and 52 Nm at 5250 rpm. This makes the engine good for equal results when it comes to slow speed riding and highway cruising. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox.

The present generation Himalayan comes with a 411cc, single cylinder engine producing 24.5 BHP at 6500 rpm and 32 Nm at 4250 rpm. The engine feels puny in front of the new twin-cylinder motor but still is quite responsive when compared to the old Royal Enfield engines. The tyre size on the present Himalayan is perfect for the job while ground clearance and suspension travel will change for sure with the new frame. The bigger Himalayan will support design changes to overcome the current limitations while pricing will surely be on the upper side of both the present 650cc bikes.

Royal Enfield registered 14% drop in monthly sales in December 2018. The brand faced issues like workers strike that resulted in a loss of production and sales number in the last two months of 2018. The 56,026 units sold in December 2018 were much lower in comparison to 65,367 units sold in the same month in 2017. On the other hand, Royal Enfield registered 41% hike in exports from 1601 units to 2252 units. The workers were on a strike from Sept 24 to Nov 12, resulting in a production loss of 28,000 motorcycles during the period. The reason for the strike was a lower increment in wages.

Royal Enfield is planning to launch the scrambler-inspired Bullet Trials in India to offer further convenience to the buyers. Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 won the IMOTY 2019 award while Continental GT is gaining popularity for the sporty riding position and class-leading power output. The most powerful motorcycle from RE, GT 650 comes with standard dual seat and clip-on handlebar in the stock form while the single seat and rear cowl can be bought as an accessory later. The brand is also working hard through the online store to bring as much merchandise as possible for the buyers.

Royal Enfield was earlier the fifth largest selling brand in India while a few months later, the position was lost to Yamaha India. Royal Enfield was moving closer to the one million yearly sales target but circumstances made them fall back to half the number. The addition of ABS resulted in a price hike for almost every model in their lineup, pushing the budget of customer up by INR 15,000 on the majority of bikes. The Bullet series is yet to offer ABS in India while all other models have at least one product with the safety feature. The range of RE bikes starts from INR 1.28 lakh (ex-showroom).

Royal Enfield Bullet Trials is the next big thing to be seen in the Indian brand’s lineup. The motorcycle is essentially a Bullet with reworked parts to create a Scrambler out of the standard motorcycle. The launch of Bullet Trials will mark another step from Royal Enfield for the adventure-loving community as they only have the option of Himalayan with them. Here are five must-know facts for the upcoming Royal Enfield Bullet Trials.

5 Facts About Royal Enfield Bullet Trials

1) Trials Nameplate

The name Bullet Trials is all-new for the Indian audience while exactly similar bike with the same nameplate is available internationally from 2009. The bike is basically a stock Royal Enfield Bullet with a raised exhaust and a different seat in comparison to the long single unit seen on the Bullet series. Bullet Trials even comes with a different set of tires.

2) Looks & Style

The motorcycle is available with dual-purpose tires, chrome exhaust that looks right from a Scrambler, chrome headlight cover and black suspension covers. The rear seat section flaunts a carrier for luggage management while handlebar used here is more relaxed than the stock unit. The odd-looking painted frame is not matching the overall profile.

3) Engine Options

Royal Enfield Bullet Trials will be available in both 350 and 500 version. The bigger engine is seen with a matt green frame while 350cc Trials brings red to the frame paint. The fenders are different in comparison to the Bullet series. The 499c engine is good for 41.3 Nm of massive torque. The engines are available with a 5-speed gearbox.

4) Expected Price

Bullet Trials will attract INR 25,000-30,000 of price hike over the regular Bullet models. The Bullet Trials 350 is expected to get a price tag of around INR 1.60 lakh and the Trials 500 is expected to be priced around INR 2 lakh (ex-showroom). The majority of price hike goes into ABS inclusion while rest is taken for reworked parts and equipment like dual-purpose tires. The lack of rivals for this segment make these two decent options for mild adventure lovers.

5) Expected Launch

Royal Enfield Bullet Trials is expected to launch around March 2019, leaving buyers with more than 8 weeks to decide whether they wish to go for this reworked version or wait for options from different brands.

A few days back, a Royal Enfield motorcycle was spotted testing with a red number plate in Tamil Nadu. It was rumoured to be known as Classic Scrambler 500. But as per the latest report by GaadiWaadi, the new motorcycle will be sold as Bullet Trials and the official launch will happen in March 2019. The good news is that the Trials series will also be available with a 350cc engine. The motorcycles will be sold as Trials 350 and Trials 500. Both the models will come with 2-channel ABS as standard.

The handlebar position on the Bullet Trials seems highly rider-friendly with wide grips and a raised bar. The tyres at both ends are dual purpose units with a decent amount of width. The rear section is seen with a raised exhaust, more or less similar to the stock unit in design but placed much higher for safe all-terrain riding.

The rear luggage holder may support the pillion seat hooks for easy seat mounting. Riders using Bullet have already climbed record heights with a stock ground clearance of 135mm and imagining the Bullet Trials going further heights won’t be wrong at all. The Bullet Trials 350 is expected to get a price tag of around INR 1.70 lakh and the Trials 500 is expected to be priced around INR 2.15 lakh (ex-showroom).
