Vespa Urban Club 125 has been officially launched by Piaggio in India at a price tag of INR 72,190 (ex-showroom Pune). One of the most affordable offerings from Piaggio, the Vespa Urban Club 125 started reaching the dealerships a month ago. The scooter competes in the market with the likes of Honda Activa 125, Suzuki Access, and TVS NTorq. The scooter is available in multiple colour options while gets an on-road price tag of INR 88,500 in Pune.

Powering the Vespa Urban Club 125 is a 125cc engine borrowed from Notte 125 that churns out a maximum power of 9.6HP at 7250rpm and an utmost torque of 9.9Nm or torque at 6250rpm. The engine is mated to a Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT). The suspension duties are handled by telescopic forks at the front and a hydraulic shock absorber at the rear. The scooter has been equipped with Combi Braking System (CBS) as standard and features 10-inch wheels with drum brakes at either end.

The Vespa Urban Club 125 gets blacked out mirrors, grab rails as well as wheels instead of getting a chrome finish. The all-new scooter can be availed in four colours namely: Azzurro Provenza, Maze Grey, Glossy Yellow, and Glossy Red. The Vespa scooters have a noteworthy fanbase in India when it comes to their premium styling though, it offers a basic level of kit as compared to the other scooters in its segment.

According to a recent report by Autocar India, some of the Vespa dealers have begun receiving the new Urban Club 125. The upcoming Vespa scooter gets a price tag of INR 72,190 (ex-showroom, Pune), which is similar to that of the CBS-equipped Notte 125. The on-road price of Urban Club 125 CBS in Pune would be around INR 88,500, while the ex-showroom price in Delhi is said to be slightly higher at INR 73,733.

The price is not the only thing which Vespa Urban Club and the Vespa Notte have in common. They are probably the most-affordable Vespa models in India and are essentially the same scooter with different characteristics. While the Notte 125 is available in Matte Black only, the Urban Club will be available in 4 colours: silver, yellow, light blue, and red.

Like Notte, the Urban Club 125 continues to use drum brakes and 10-inch wheels and comes equipped with CBS (Combi Braking System). Mechanically, the Urban Club is identical to the Notte and other 125cc Vespa scooters, which means it features a 125cc, air-cooled engine that puts out 9.6 HP of maximum power and 9.9 NM of maximum torque.

As both the scooters (Notte and Urban Club) are the most affordable Vespa offerings, they have very basic levels of kit. But they do are highly expensive than their sportier sibling, the upcoming Aprilia Storm 125, which will get an introductory price tag of INR 65,000 (ex-showroom, India).

The entry-level Vespa scooters are priced much higher than the TVS Ntorq 125, which offers loads of features with an excellent value-for-money price tag of INR 65,362 (ex-showroom, Pune). But the new gen of Vespa scooters attracts customers with their iconic style and premium looks. Those who like the stylish and eye-catching retro looks of Vespa products would not be concerned much about the value-for-money factor.

Piaggio Vespa ZX 125 CBS has been launched in India for INR 77,481 (ex-showroom). The model is available in two different variants, with the above-mentioned price effective for the drum brake ZX 125 and INR 81,981 for the disc brake variant.

The Vespa ZX is based on the LX 125, gaining the disc brake variant and an all-new name for 2019. Apart from the CBS addition, the regular variant not just looks but also feels the same. The standard headlamp design, chrome mirrors, and chrome exhaust cover flaunt the traditional Vespa designing with pride. The instrument console used on the model is the same semi-digital unit as remaining Vespa models.

The 125cc, single cylinder engine on the scooter is good for 9.8 HP at 7500 rpm and 10.6 Nm at 6000 rpm. The engine comes mated to an automatic gearbox. The most happening factor for the Vespa series is the use of a monocoque chassis, single-sided front suspension, and alloy wheels.

The combi-braking system is now a mandatory feature for all products under the 125cc segment while the anti-lock braking system is seen as standard on products with displacement higher than the 125cc benchmark. As the addition of disc brake makes the ZX 125 safer than the LX model, the number of buyers is expected to increase for the most affordable Vespa.

Those who are looking into performance can visit the Aprilia dealership as they use the same engines with a different set of body panels to enhance the sporty character in the gearless division. The pricing of Aprilia scooters is also highly justified in front of the Vespa options. Vespa and Aprilia are posting profitable numbers after a long time as buyers are now willing to spend more on a scooter, especially after the arrival of rivals like Suzuki Burgman Street and TVS NTorq 125.

Seen as a concept from a long time, Vespa Elettrica is now ready to rock. The scooter giant has finally entered the sacred, zero-emission segment with this new model, taking forward the familiar compact scooter design from the present range. The 4kW motor fitted under the panel is good for 200 Nm of massive torque. The batteries are fitted in the lower section, allowing the Vespa to enjoy better center of gravity for superb handling. They are yet to reveal the top speed for Elettrica.

The challenge of getting a better range helped Vespa achieve 100 kilometers in one full recharge, leaving medium level commuters with more than enough power for a couple of days. Vespa Elettrica regenerates power from braking and can charge up to 100% in four hours. Fast chargers can do the same in fraction of this time for the scooter. Vespa uses the conventional design with modern headlight and a beautiful alloy wheel design.

Last month, celebrating 50 years of Vespa Primavera, Piaggio revealed two new special editions of their adorable Primavera scooter at the 2018 Amerivespa Rally in Richmond, Virginia, USA. These two editions were the Vespa Yacht Club and the Vespa Notte. The scooter was first launched in 1968 and after 50 years, it has come a long way.

Vespa Notte

Internationally, the special editions will be available in two engine options, a 50cc motor or a 150cc motor. However, in India, only the Vespa Notte has been launched and that too with the same engine as the outgoing LX 125, which sports a 125cc single-cylinder engine which puts out a maximum power of 9.76 Bhp and a peak torque of 10.6 Nm. This is quite different from the international models that were revealed in the USA.

The Notte edition is different from the standard LX 125 since it comes without any chrome touches and in an all-black trim. Even the tire rims have been blackened out to give it the pure nightshade feel. This edition is only available in the matte black colour and has been priced at INR 70,285 (ex-showroom Delhi). This is INR 4,000 lower than the regular model of the LX 125, ensuring that the special edition will see a spike in the sale, competing against the likes of the Aprilia SR 125, the Honda Grazia, the TVS Ntorq, and the Suzuki Burgman Street.

Piaggio Motoplex was recently inaugurated in Bangalore under the ownership of Avant Garde Motors. The fully equipped dealership will serve as a base for Piaggio, Aprilia and Moto Guzzi bikes. The Motoplex set of dealerships should not be confused with MV Agusta’s MotoRoyale as both operate under different ownership.

Piaggio is slowly expanding their network with Pune, Hyderabad, Kochi and Chennai having fully operational stores. Piaggio group has kept the ambiance of these stores same across almost every country of the world. Motoplex caters to the needs of superbike owners who prefer lesser known yet completely niche brands like Aprilia and Moto Guzzi.

Motoplex Bengaluru

The common term they share among each other is that all of them all Italian. Aprilia is known for its sport bikes while Moto Guzzi caters to the needs of buyers who love relaxed riding. Entire range of Vespa scooters is available at Motoplex.

Strict superbike lovers will get their hands on RSV4 RF, Tuono 1100 and Caponord 1200, all of which carry supreme levels of quality and user satisfaction. Those who are bored with regular Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki and Honda superbikes can visit Motoplex for an all new experience. Aprilia SR150, the entry level sport scooter, is also available at Motoplex.

Moto Guzzi is an even unique brand with more emphasis on cruisers than sport bikes. It is popular for models like Audace, California, MGX-21 and V9, all of which are special in their own sense.

MGX-21 carries a relatively smaller engine that is good for 121 Nm and rivals top spec Indian Roadmaster and Harley Davidson Road Glide. Moto Guzzi V9 comes in both Roamer and Bobber version.

Motoplex Bangalore will also have special edition Vespa Red among other products like VXL and SXL. Piaggio group also has Gilera and Derbi brand under their international Motoplex dealerships.

Vespa 946 Emporio Armani was recently discontinued from the Indian market. The right reason behind this is the end of contract between Armani and Piaggio, further clearing the fact that it would now be available with existing buyers around the world.

The model was launched in order to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of Giorgio Armani and 130th Anniversary for Piaggio. November 2016 saw this limited model enter India with eye popping price tag of INR 12.05 lakh (ex-showroom Pune). Even with this huge tag on the scooter, Piaggio sold few units of the same in India. Exact numbers from the company are yet to arrive.

Vespa 946 is powered by 125cc, single cylinder fuel injected engine producing 11.4 BHP at 8750 rpm and 9.6 Nm at 7750 rpm. As it falls within the most premium level of scooters available across the globe, features like dual channel ABS, anti-slip regulator, traction control and even LED lights were available as standard.

The scooter claims a top speed of 93 kmph while most buyers would not try reaching the top speed after spending such big amount on this 125 cc scooter. Both the wheels are equipped to 220 mm disc brakes and the wheels measure 12 inch in diameter. Some more exclusive bits to the scooter includes its fully digital instrument console, single premium saddle with an option of carrying the luggage on its rear carrier, Black elegant alloy wheels, Armani logos on multiple positions and Michelin tyres.

Vespa 946 Emporio Armani measures 1965 mm in length, 730 mm in width and 1405 mm in wheelbase. The seat height is 805 mm, making it difficult for short riders to drive this scooter. It competes with no other as its price tag places it among many heavily performance packed superbikes of India.
