2023 EICMA: Japanese Big Four - Kawasaki, Suzuki, Honda, Yamaha

As motorcycle manufacturers from all over the world take the stage to display their newest innovations, cutting-edge designs, and more, the 2023 EICMA Show in Milan, Italy, is attracting a lot of interest. Not only is it a globally renowned event, but Indian motorcycle producers like Hero MotoCorp and Royal Enfield have also made a lasting impression, increasing the event's optimism and diversity.

But the Japanese Big Four—Kawasaki, Suzuki, Honda, and Yamaha—also come under investigation. These titans of the business have a rich past filled with creativity and a track record of producing excellent motorcycles. What have they revealed at the 2023 EICMA? Let's examine more closely to learn about these important firms' most recent items and fashions.

Kawasaki's Objectives for the 2023 EICMA

  • One of the Big Four Japanese suppliers, Kawasaki, announced an intriguing plan for its range of motorcycles.
  • Emphasised the use of hydrogen-based fuels as an essential aspect of 2W journeys in the future.

Exclusive Edition Exhibits

  • Released the Ninja 1000 SX and Ninja 650 Special Editions.
  • These models had a unique colour scheme and treatment in recognition of Ninja's 40th anniversary.
  • The traditional colours found on ZXR machines from the 1990s have been incorporated in this design.

Kawasaki raised expectations at the 2023 EICMA Show by presenting the Ninja 500 and Z500, two brand-new motorcycles. The new 451cc parallel-twin engine, which debuted with the Eliminator 500, serves as the starting point for these bikes. This platform is unique in that it can combine peaky power necessary for highway cruising with low-end performance perfect for city commuting.

The engine produces 42.6 Nm of torque at 6000 RPM and 45.4 hp at 9000 RPM, which are impressive performance numbers. Kawasaki introduced a 6-speed gearbox and a slipper clutch to each of these bikes to improve the riding experience. Even additional characteristics are available on the top-spec SE model, including keyless ignition and a TFT display with Bluetooth integration. These motorcycles have a strong trellis frame development, which increases their appeal to consumers. They also meet the European A2 licensing standards, which means that in addition to being exciting rides, they are also available to an increased number of riders. The Ninja 500 and Z500 are both expected to arrive in the Indian market, which has supporters in that country quite excited. The motorcycling scene should see a renewed sense of excitement with these new Kawasaki outcomes.

The New Z 7 Hybrid by Kawasaki

  • The naked version of the Ninja 7 Hybrid, the Z 7 Hybrid, was introduced by Kawasaki at the 2023 EICMA Show.
  • It has a 9 kW electric motor added to the same 451 cc engine as the Ninja 500 and Z500, for a combined torque of 58 bhp.
  • This hybrid bike has an advanced transfer and a about 12-kilometres electric range.

Honda Bike Exhibition

At the 2023 EICMA Show, Honda Motorcycles, a well-known Japanese producer, displayed a wide range of over ten two-wheel vehicles. The models on display included the following: 2024 CB1000 Hornet, 2024 CBR600RR and CBR600RR HRC Race Kit, 2024 NX500, 2024 CB500 Hornet, 2024 CL500, 2024 CBR500RR, and 2024 CMX 1100 Rebel DCT.

Some modifications in names have been made to Honda's 500cc lineup. The CB500X has become the NX500, while the CB500F is now the CB500 Hornet. The 471cc parallel-twin engine, which produces 47.5 engine power and 43 Nm of torque, is still in place. They still have the 5-inch TFT display and USD front forks, but Honda has implemented traction control for MY2024 to increase safety.

Also, Honda has improved the 650cc inline-four lineup. The 2024 CB650R and CBR650 have both undergone design enhancements, making them appear even better. Most notably, a TFT dashboard is included. The unique E-Clutch developed by Honda is a remarkable addition to the new models.

New Products from Suzuki: At the 2023 EICMA Show, Suzuki, known for the famous Hayabusa, presented two new offerings. The GSX S1000 GX ADV and the fully faired GSX-8R motorcycles are these new additions.

Every motorcycle fan can find something they like in Suzuki's broad range of models.

Suzuki is attempting to achieve more sustainable mobility in order to make a contribution to a greener future. Vehicles powered by hydrogen, totally electric, flex fuel, and alternative energies are all part of their vision. Among the models on display, Suzuki intends to introduce the limited-edition Hayabusa 25th Anniversary Edition along with some small tweaks to the V-Strom 650XT for the Indian market.

The GSX-8R, GSX S1000GX, and GSX S1000GT are the show's big stars. With a 776cc parallel twin motor, the GSX-8R, GSX-8S, and V-Strom 800 DE are all built on the same platform. Although precise performance statistics are unknown, it is predicted to be in the range of 82 horsepower and 78 Nm, just like its competitors.
