The new Nissan X-Trail has leaked online ahead of marking its official debut as Nissan Rogue in the US in the coming days. The SUV gets an all-new design which gives it a distinguished look when compared to its predecessor. The new-gen 2021 Nissan X-Trail gets a sharp and unique styling. The front of the car gets split-LED headlamps with inbuilt DRLs in addition to Nissan’s signature-style V-grille. The black cladding on the lower half of the SUV imparts it a muscular outlook while the car also gets skid plates at the front and rear end.

The interior of the car is also equally attractive as it looks quite premium and is inspired by the European models. There is a 3-spoke steering wheel, a large instrument cluster, and a floating touchscreen infotainment system. It has an electronic parking system, funky little gear selector and a rotary knob for off-road driving modes. The 2021 Nissan X-Trail will come with wireless charging along with wireless Apple CarPlay. The dashboard design of the car is layered and it is divided into three parts with different colours and materials. The cabin space of the car looks decent while it also has a huge panoramic sunroof which adds to its beauty.

The mechanical specifications for the car have not been revealed yet but as the launch will come close we will surely get our hands on it. Nissan discontinued the X-Trail in the Indian market as it was only available with a petrol engine option and at that time, petrol SUVs were not quite in demand. But now the scenario is totally different and the brand can plan to introduce the new-gen X-Trail in India under the 2500 quota of CBU products. Well, all these speculations will come to an end once Nissan officially confirms something on the launch of the SUV in India.

Nissan Compact SUV Officially Announced: The compact SUV market in India is growing at a faster pace with major car brands investing their profits in the development of India-specific products. Nissan too has joined the race and has announced a compact SUV to be launched sometime by September 2020. The brand has unveiled the first teaser of its upcoming compact SUV at an event in Delhi which will ultimately compete in the market with the likes of Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Mahindra XUV300, Hyundai Venue and Ford EcoSport.

Considering the recently revealed teaser image, the upcoming SUV from Nissan will feature a crossover design language with a floating roof and a dual-tone colour scheme. The SUV is inspired by the Nissan Kicks while differs from the upright positioned SUVs like Maruti Brezza and Hyundai Venue. Some reports also suggest the brand to offer the Nissan Juke-inspired design language which is currently available in the international markets.

The brand is expected to base the upcoming Nissan SUV with similar mechanical bits as that of the upcoming Renault HBC which is expected to be unveiled by the brand in late 2020. The SUV will be further based on the CMF-A platform that is the underlying platform for the current-gen Triber.

Commenting on the plans to unveil the compact SUV, Rakesh Srivastava, managing director, Nissan Motor India, said, “We would like to increase our commitment to the Indian market and we look forward to making Nissan the primary brand in the Indian market with multiple new premium products to going to come under the Nissan brand. Datsun, however, will continue to be part of the entire product portfolio and we will strengthen the value proposition of the Datsun products and will bring features, for instance, the CVT automatic transmission as one of the technologies for which we find a good opportunity in India.”

Six years earlier, Nissan revived the Datsun brand name to use it as a designed-for-emerging-markets brand for the Indian, Russian, Indonesian, and the South African markets. As per a recent report by ACI, the Japanese carmaker is looking forward to discontinuing the underperforming brands by 2022.

When the name Datsun was resurrected, that time the company was planning to use it for the entry-level markets with Nissan in the middle and the brand’s luxury division – the Infiniti being at the top.

Datsun marked its debut in the Indian market with the GO hatchback and it was launched by Carlos Ghosn himself. The debut model was unveiled at a world premiere event in New Delhi. After the GO hatchback, the brand also launched the Redi-GO and the 7-seater GO+ in the Indian market.

Things are not going positive for the brand ever since the models have been introduced in the Indian market as the products have failed to produce any significant numbers in sales quotient. In the product line, the GO did not encounter a positive start as it got caught between the separation of Nissan and Hover Automotive India (HAI).

A few months later, the GO hatchback got caught in another peril as it was unable to perform in the Global NCAP test, which was neither good for the model nor for the brand. Nissan was hopeful when it brought Datsun’s third model, the Redi-GO, which again proved to be a big disappointment as its rival Renault Kwid outperformed it, selling almost three times.

Talking about the brand, Nissan is presently struggling to stabilise itself in the market due to global sales stagnation in the US and Europe. This year in July, Nissan organised a major restructuring programme in which it announced the plans to reduce the production capacity and cut down 12,500 jobs around the world in 14 markets including India, in order to resolve things a bit.

As per the latest details available, Nissan will discontinue the Datsun brand in a phased manner after the currently-selling products reach the end of their lifecycle, and after that, they will be discontinued which is expected to happen by end 2022 or early 2023.

2019 Nissan Sunny has been officially revealed for the international market. The sedan segment is unable to achieve equal growth levels for many brands and thus, updating their options with better designs and unique set of features can leave them with global winners. Sunny was initially popular for the abundant legroom and soon after the introduction of updated Verna, Ciaz and other rivals, the downfall was clearly noticed. Nissan Versa is another nameplate for the same car as many markets have this name for the Sunny sedan.

The front fascia is inspired from the premium sedans in the company lineup, getting stretched headlamps, the iconic Nissan grill, well-sculpted bumper and much more for the year 2019. The alloy wheels feature dual tone finish while the side mirrors are seen in the gloss black finish. The C-pillar features a black extension that runs into the rear glass and creates a perfect floating roof experience. The rear is seen with stylish tail lights, integrated boot spoiler, and splitter-inspired lower bumper section. The side profile is clean, impressive and quite natural when it comes to the roofline.

The interior of 2019 Nissan Sunny comes with a black leather finish, taking the premium quotient up by a large margin. The steering wheel is the flat-bottom type with sporty silver finish in the lower spoke. The car comes with a semi-digital console, infotainment display, and buttons with red ambience around them. The automatic gearbox is visible in the image while the colour-contrasted stitching on the dashboard looks impressive for the segment.

The air vents are finished in silver while soft-touch leather is also seen on the door panels. The 1.6L engine on car is good for 124 HP and comes with 5-speed gearbox as standard. The CVT is available as an option while the launch in India is uncertain for this model at the moment.

Nissan Kicks has been launched in India for a starting price tag of INR 9.55 lakh. The base diesel version starts at INR 10.85 lakh. Both the prices are ex-showroom Delhi. The car is highly promising in terms of interior finish and shade selection. The segment-first inclusion of a 360-degree camera on the Nissan Kicks raised expectations of the buyers for sure. The infotainment system called Nissanconnect comes with smartwatch connectivity and 50+ features to track the live movement of the car and even book a service. The car comes with smart keyless entry, cruise control, hill start assist and fog lamps with cornering function.

The dashboard offers leather stitched surface that matches the shade of leather seats on the new Nissan Kicks. The vents are well placed around the infotainment display while console seen here is a unique piece of art with a tachometer on one side and fuel gauge on the another. The speedometer is digital but in comparison to the modern day consoles, this one feels outdated for sure. The vents on the outer edges are circular. Nissan Kicks is available with a steering wheel that feels perfect for its size and uses leather wrapped finish for enhancing the premium feel of this car.

Nissan is using the familiar 1.5L, 4-cylinder petrol engine for the Kicks, producing 106 HP of maximum power. The petrol engine is mated to a 5-speed transmission. The diesel power comes from a 1.5L diesel engine, getting 110 HP of total output with a 6-speed gearbox. The rivals in this segment include Hyundai Creta, Renault Captur and Maruti S-Cross, with Creta being the only one to score a five-digit sales number on average. India-spec Nissan Kicks is different from the European model as they are sharing the frame with Captur for the country.

Nissan Kicks is now official for the Indian market, revealing most design details and differences that the country will get from the international version. The car comes with LED headlights with boomerang shaped daytime running lights, all-new bumper design with aluminum skid plate and honeycomb mesh front grille design. The muscular wheel arches are present on the India-specific model, similar to those seen on the other model that is on sale globally. Nissan Kicks is bigger here, presenting 4,384mm of length, 1,813mm width, and 1,656mm height. The extra 89mm of length makes it look bigger and dominating in the real world.

The floating roof is finished in Orange, further carrying roof rails on top for that typical SUV feel. The 17-inch machine-finished alloy wheels are great for the side profile while rear end features almost identical design to the international model. The car comes with Captur sourced chassis, leaving the V platform seen on European Kicks for the M0 frame used on all Nissan-Renault SUVs in India. Even after getting more length and height in comparison to the Captur, the wheelbase remains identical in both cars at 2673mm. The ground clearance for Kicks is expected to cross the 200mm mark.

Nissan Kicks will use the familiar five-seat cabin with more space than the international version. They have not shown even a single bit of interior detail for the Indian model, leaving all things as a surprise until the car gets an official launch event. The price range for Kicks is expected to fall between INR 9-15 lakh, with lesser than usual chances of getting a diesel model under the INR 10 lakh price point. The primary rival for Nissan Kicks will be Hyundai Creta but the size makes it comparable to Jeep Compass also. The car will feature the tried and tested 1.5L diesel and 1.5L petrol motor.

Nissan has a small lineup in the Indian market. There are many vehicles which are available in the global markets but have not yet been seen in India. The range for the Nissan cars starts from hatchbacks to the Godzilla GT-R. With limited options in a wide range, the company has not been doing well with the sales. However, there are hopes that with the introduction of new products like the Nissan Kicks, the sales will receive a boost.

Media reports suggest that the Nissan Kicks will arrive at the Indian shores in January 2019. The same reports convey that the model that will arrive in India will be different from the one that is available globally. Expected changes include an increased interior space and a longer list of features.

The Nissan Kicks is built around the M0 platform, the same one that the Renault Captur and Duster are built on. There is a V-shaped grille up front and a dual tone bumper with housings for the fog lights. On the sides, you will notice flared wheel arches, and a floating roof finished in a contrasting shade. At the rear, the tail lights have been shaped in the form of a boomerang. You will also notice the raked windshield.

The inside of the global version features a dual-tone dashboard with a touchscreen infotainment system, a 3-spoke multi-functioning steering wheel, and a twin-pod instrument cluster. The list is expected to be longer when the Kicks reaches Indian shores, to compete with the Hyundai Creta which dominates the segment, or the feature loaded cousin from Renault, Captur.

The report also hinted that the Nissan Kicks will be available with a choice of petrol and diesel engines. Most likely, they will be the same engines that are currently being offered on the Renault-Nissan cars like the Terrano, Duster, and Captur.

Nissan Terrano Sport Edition was recently launched in India for INR 12.22 lakh (ex-showroom). This special edition variant comes with visible updates that make it feel more upmarket and attractive than ever.

It can only be bought in White shade as dual tone black roof is impressively visible from this decent offering. Dual tone finish is high in demand and getting this from Nissan itself will help buyers enjoy high quality finish and improved road presence over the standard variants. One can even spot muscular wheel arch cladding on Terrano Sport.

Nissan has added sporty red stripes on the hood, rear door and front fender. Crimson highlights can also be spotted on floor mats and seat covers with diamond quilting. Another interesting feature is the use of L shaped LED daytime running lights on empty section adjoining headlights.

Nissan Terrano Sport Edition
Nissan Terrano Sport Edition Launched in India @ INR 12.22 Lakh

All black roof wrap feels even better with black roof rails for a muscular stance. Interior of Nissan Terrano Sport looks very impressive and this edition is expected to bring the much required sales push for their city friendly SUV.

NissanConnect comes as standard on Terrano Sport, offering more than 50 features like locate my car, sharing car location, geofencing, speed alerts and much more. It comes with dual airbags, ABS, EBD and brake assist.

The deal may not feel that impressive when one gets to know that it is available on just single diesel engine producing 85 PS and 200 Nm of torque. Same price can get you a much more powerful Creta was almost equivalent feature list.

Commenting on the launch, Jerome Saigot, Managing Director, Nissan India Private Limited said, “Inspired by our global SUV heritage, the all new Terrano Sport Edition makes a bold statement and entry on the road. The sporty exteriors clubbed with the smart, luxurious dual tone interiors make it a great package for the customers who are looking for an SUV that complements their achievements and reflects their adventurous lifestyle.”

Nissan Terra, the all-new Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour rival, was recently seen in a couple of spy shots from China. The car looks impressive but could get restricted to the Chinese market in its initial days.

Completely clean images of Terra shows how brilliantly Nissan understood the requirement of people who wished for a perfect blend between Endeavour’s presence and Fortuner’s body lines. The car has highest ever potential than any other Nissan premium car seen in the Indian market, clearly seen through the attitude filled chrome Nissan grill and beautifully finished bonnet lines.

Nissan Terra SUV
Nissan Terra SUV Spotted Undisguised in China

Terra comes with minimum bumper highlights and looks awesome with its perfectly designed and hardly overdone set of headlights. The name is adopted from XTerra, the US specific model that was discontinued in 2015. Like all other brands within this segment, Nissan has shared the underpinnings of Terra with Navara.

Facts also reveal that Terra may look completely different from Navara but both of them share the ladder frame chassis with the pick-up. The car seen here is most probably a base variant as front fascia misses on the fog lights and bumper highlights.

Nissan Terra SUV As Nissan Terra will be brought as a seven seat SUV, engine powering the same is also expected to be a powerful one. Chinese market will use the 2.5L, 4-cylinder petrol motor producing 184 HP. The engine will be available with both rear wheel drive and all-wheel drive option.

Another 2.3L, 4-cylinder diesel engine is expected to be on offer, producing 158 HP in the lower and 187 HP in the higher state of tune. Both will offer automatic gearbox options as standard. Terra will be officially seen for the first time at 2018 Beijing Motor Show. As always, the show will start in Beijing, China in April 2018.
