According to recent reports, all the 200 units of the Skoda Octavia RS 245 have been sold out in India. The brand has completely sold out the allocated units of the sedan for the Indian markets while the new orders have been closed by the brand. It is one of the most sought-after sedans in India that has been highly appreciated by the Indian audience.

Though the brand has registered all the 200 units of the Skoda Octavia RS 245, there have been some order withdrawals as well. This certainly means that the customers can still reach out to the dealerships and get their hands on the new-gen sedan.

The Skoda Octavia RS 245 was launched in India at a price tag of INR 35.99 lakh, carrying a premium of almost INR 10 lakhs over the 2017’s version of the Octavia RS. Since the sedan is imported to the Indian shores as a CBU, the addition of the import duties further explains the heavy price tag.

The bookings for the Skoda Octavia RS 245 were commenced back on March 1, 2020, at the brand’s official website while Zac Hollis, Director, Sales, Service and Marketing, Skoda Auto India has recently announced that the sedan has received an exceptional response and further confirms that the deliveries of the RS 245 will commence once the nationwide lockdown is lifted.

Further commenting on the news, he stated – “I am really looking forward to delivering the car, and I am hoping that when this whole lockdown finishes I can even hand over some of the cars to the customers myself.”

To jog your memory, powering the Skoda Octavia RS 245 is a 2.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine that is capable of churning out a maximum power of 245 HP and an utmost torque of 370 Nm. The engine comes mated to a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox. The sedan is capable of accelerating from 0-100 kmph in just 6.6 seconds while the top speed registered by it stands at 250 kmph (electronically limited).

The brand has recently revealed the fourth-gen Skoda Octavia RS in the international markets that features a 1.4-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine mated to an electric motor, capable of offering a total power output of 245 HP and a peak torque of 400 Nm. There has been no official information revealed on when the sedan will make it to the Indian shores as of yet.

Skoda Octavia RS245 has been recently launched in India at a price tag of INR 35.99 lakhs (ex-showroom) at the Auto Expo 2020. The sedan will be brought to the country as a CBU unit while the production will limit at only 200 units for the Indian market.

The Octavia RS245 is the most powerful version of the sedan to be ever rolled out by the brand. Powering the sedan is a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that is capable of offering a huge power output of 245HP and a peak torque of 370Nm. The engine comes mated to a seven-speed DSG automatic gearbox. The Skoda Octavia RS245 is capable of accelerating 0-100kmph in just 6.6 seconds while the top speed of the sedan limits at 250kmph.

Coming to the exteriors, the newly revealed RS245 gets a bulkier design language when compared to the top-spec Octavia currently available in the market. The brand has equipped the sedan with a sportier front and rear bumper while the air intakes are now larger. In addition to this, the sedan features large 18-inch alloy wheels while gets a faux diffuser at the rear bumper.

Coming to the sportier cabin, the Skoda Octavia RS245 has been equipped with an all-black theme with red accents as well as a flat-bottom steering wheel design. The sporty outlook of the sedan is further accentuated with Alcantara seats as well as the use of multiple vRS badges.

The dashboard further features an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto while the interior has been further adorned with 12.3-inch digital instrument console, hands-free parking system as well as automatic climate control.

The launch of Skoda Octavia RS245 is one of the wisest decisions from the brand considering the next-gen Octavia was long due. The all-new sedan will now compete in the market with the likes of BMW 3 Series, Audi A4 and Mercedes-Benz C-Class.

Among several unveilings at the Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Media Night, the Volkswagen Group also unveiled the Skoda Vision IN concept, that made its world premiere in New Delhi. The production-spec model of the concept will be the first to be launched under the VW Group’s “India 2.0 Project”. It will also be the first model to be built on the company’s brand-new MQB A0 IN platform.

Though Vision IN is a concept by Skoda, it is of the prime importance to the VW Group. It previews a mid-size SUV that will go against the Hyundai Creta, Tata Harrier and Kia Seltos. The prototype model of the vehicle provides a glimpse of a handsome and bold-looking SUV.

It resembles the design of Skoda Kamiq sold abroad but with a more bold and upright nose, with the trademark chrome-established Skoda grille flanked by split projector headlights and an angular front bumper featuring large air intakes. Other design elements of the SUV include plastic cladding all around, prominent roof rails and large 19-inch alloy wheels.

The back of the concept also shares its design traits with Kamiq. The Skoda Vision IN concept features an additional light strip that stretches the width of SUV along with a three-slot skid plate similar to the one on the front. In terms of size, it is roughly the same length as that of the Hyundai Creta, that is about 4.26-metres.

Coming to the interior, the concept car features a thin chrome bar that spans the length of the dash. To make the car look more appealing, Skoda has used bright orange shade on a lot of parts that includes the dash, door panels, centre console, and the front armrest.

The Skoda Vision IN concept gets a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system right next to the Virtual cockpit digital instrumentation. There is a three-spoke steering wheel along with the buttons for phone controls, voice commands, lane assist and cruise control.

Mechanically, the production version of the midsize SUV is expected to be powered by a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that will produce 150HP of maximum power along with a peak torque of 250Nm. There will be no diesel option on offer but a CNG variant could be there on the list.

The 2020 Skoda Rapid has been recently revealed by the brand in the international markets. The sedan has been currently updated for Russia and the European countries. The customers will be able to get their hands on the revised Rapid sedan in Russia followed by other countries later.

The Skoda Rapid available in the international markets is different from the one sold in the Indian markets since the former is based on a larger PQ35 platform while the India-spec Rapid is based on the smaller PQ25 platform suitable for the Indian roads.

Taking the styling cues from the bigger Skoda sedans, the 2020 Rapid looks fresh when compared to its last-gen version. The brand has offered the sedan with new headlights design in addition to offering a revised bumper as well as a redesigned front grille.

The higher-spec variant of the sedan features LED headlight and taillight setup while the lower-spec have been equipped with halogen headlamps. The 2020 Skoda Rapid now features a redesigned Skoda emblem which will be made standard with the upcoming Skoda models. The significant curves at the side of the Rapid remain identical to the last-gen variant.

Coming to the rear profile of the updated sedan, the 2020 Skoda Rapid now features all-new sleeker tail light design while at the same time, the rear bumper has also been revised with new designing traits.

Apart from the cosmetic changes, the revised Skoda Rapid has been kept mechanically unaltered for the international markets. Powering the sedan is the same 1.6-litre MPI or an optional 1.4-litre TSI engine. The gearbox options include a manual gearbox as well as an automatic transmission.

Coming to the Indian market, Skoda is expected to launch a BS6-compliant version of the Skoda Rapid before the new emission norms commence in the country from April 1, 2020. One can expect the brand to bring out a 1.0-litre TSI BS6 engine for the Indian market, which will specifically replace the 1.2-litre TSI petrol engine currently available with the sedan. Also, one can expect the 1.5-litre diesel to be discontinued in India considering its inability to meet the stricter emission norms.

Skoda Kamiq has been officially revealed by the brand. The car is not to be confused with the China-spec Kamiq as that one will stay exclusive to the Chinese market. The international-spec Kamiq comes with a different architecture, a compact footprint and a different set of engines on offer. The model will arrive in India in 2020 and expecting the same to carry similar dimensions is possible due to Creta-rivalling stance. Skoda Kamiq measures 4241mm in length and carries 2651mm of healthy wheelbase. The availability of a bigger wheelbase than Octavia and Karoq confirms that price placement will fall in the Jeep Compass-rivalling segment for sure.

The Kamiq comes with optional LED daytime running lights that double as dynamic indicators on the road. The design lines are matching to the Skoda SUV family while features like 400-litre boot space and extended legroom make Kamiq a compact yet practical option. The engine options include 1.0L petrol (95 HP and 115 HP), 1.5L petrol (150 HP) and 1.6L diesel (115 HP). For India, the engine selection will depend on the placement of the car as putting 1.5L diesel will place the same against Hyundai Creta while the 2.0L engine will increase the overall cost and target the Jeep Compass buyers.

Skoda is presently selling Rapid, Octavia, Superb and Kodiaq in the country. The design lines and front fascia of all these cars feel similar and surprisingly, Skoda Rapid has regained the pace by posting decent sales number almost every month. Superb is a full-length sedan that challenges cars priced double its own tag. After Kodiaq, bringing more SUVs to India will affect the brand value of Skoda and attract more buyers than ever. Kamiq is actually a Hyundai Creta rival while the Karoq will target bigger cars like Jeep Compass and Hyundai Tucson. Skoda Octavia is a potential rival to the upcoming Honda Civic.

The variant can be had in four different engine-gearbox combinations and the price mentioned here is for the most basic petrol manual setup. Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo is the first car from the brand to feature the special edition name as two years back, the brand went into a legal fight with Monte Carlo apparels and had to rename the same to Edition X in India. It seems like the problem is now solved and the brand can place their Monte Carlo variants parallel to the normal ones. Here is the detailed price list for Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo Edition in India.

Rapid Monte Carlo Price List

Above Mentioned Prices Are Ex-Showroom India

The price difference from the regular variants is INR 26,000 for both petrol and diesel engine options, including their automatic variants. Apart from these differences, the car comes with 16-inch Clubber alloy wheel design. The pillars now flaunt Monte Carlo branding while black diffuser and roof finish completes the package.

Speaking about the launch, Mr Zac Hollis, Director – Sales, Service, and Marketing, Skoda India said, “We are glad to re-introduce the Monte Carlo marque in India. The RAPID Monte Carlo offers a compelling combination of the brand’s emotive design, exquisite interiors, leading safety as well as intelligent connectivity features.
