In addition to unveiling the HBX Concept, the brand has also taken the covers off the Tata Sierra electric SUV concept at the Auto Expo 2020. Resurrected with an electric powertrain, the all-new Sierra EV pays tribute to the very famous Tata Sierra which had a good run with the audience back in the decade. The ALFA ARC platform serves as the underlying platform for the all-new Sierra EV concept while the futuristic design language makes it stand apart from the crowd.

All-New Tata Sierra SUV Concept Officially Revealed

Judging from the first look, the concept does look inspired from the Land Rover Defender but the single-piece glass going all the way to the roof of the SUV gives it the similar old Sierra look. Coupled with a sleek headlight design with an even sleeker front grille, the SUV looks bulkier and muscular while the overall squared wheel arches add to its surreal physique.

Coming to the rear profile, the sleeker taillights accentuate the overall outlook of the SUV while those dual-tone alloy wheels give it an appealing demeanour. The boot lid at the rear features the iconic “Sierra” embossing while the electric power train further makes it one of the most sought after gems of the Auto Expo 2020.

It is yet to be seen how the brand will bring out the production variant of the Tata Sierra EV and where it will be positioned in the brand’s lineup, though one can expect more news on the EV to follow shortly.

The recently commenced Auto Expo 2020 has witnessed the unveiling of the “close-to-production” model of Tata’s smallest SUV as of yet, the HBX. The all-new small SUV concept is based on the H2X concept that was initially showcased at the Geneva Motor Show in 2019 while the brand is expected to position the HBX under the Nexon in its portfolio. In addition to this, the production variant of the Tata HBX will only feature a petrol engine just like other small cars from Tata.

The HBX micro SUV concept features the brand’s all-new design language while is the second product under the brand’s portfolio to be based on the ALFA platform that is the underlying platform for the recently launched Altroz hatchback. The designers have toned down the H2X concept showcased earlier which resulted in the formation of the HBX concept though the overall body panels with a compact design language remain the same.

The front fascia of the SUV features the authentic Humanity Line flowing across the front bumper while the headlight setup has been neatly integrated inside the main cluster. In addition to this, the square wheel arches add to its sporty exterior profile while the prominent accents further accentuate the overall sports-SUV design language.

Coming to the rear design, the tailgate setup is divided neatly from the raked windscreen while the wider tyres with blacked-out alloy wheels complete the overall boxy outlook of the SUV. The brand has also offered the Tata HBX concept with a large carrier mounted on the roof that can accommodate a tyre as well as luggage.

The Tata HBX measures 3,840mm in length, 1,822mm in width and 1,635mm in height while the wheelbase stands at 2,450mm that makes it measure close to the Maruti Suzuki Swift in dimensions though tall enough to be called a compact SUV.

Powering the HBX will be the same 1.2-litre, three-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine that caters to the Tata Tiago/Tigor and is capable of offering maximum power of 86HP. The engine will be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox though one can also expect the brand to offer an all-electric version of the same sometime in the next two years.

Once launched in India, the Tata HBX will compete in the market with the likes of the Mahindra KUV100 NXT. Though there is no information on when the brand will launch the new concept though one can expect the actual production variant of the SUV to be revealed soon.

The 2020 Tata Harrier Automatic variant has been spied testing on the Indian roads and for the first time, the cabin was on full display. The updated variant of the SUV now features a revised interior with a dual-tone brown/black colour scheme. In addition to this, the brand has also released a teaser video of the updated SUV with “Driving Pleasure Like Never Before” tagline showcasing the major updates offered as well as hinting at an automatic variant.

The 2020 Tata Harrier Automatic variant features light brown upholstery while the dashboard is now glossy brown replacing the wooden scheme offered to the manual versions of the SUV.

The automatic gear lever installed on the SUV has been imparted with a black and silver colour scheme while features a Tri-Arrow design on top. The “P, R, N, D” gear modes have been lettered on the right side of the gear lever. The automatic variant of the SUV has also been equipped with a manual mode.

Apart from these minor changes, the interiors remain strategically the same for the automatic variant. The SUV continues to feature a floating infotainment display while the three-spoke multifunction steering wheel also remains the same. The 2020 Tata Harrier Automatic features the same adjustable seats at the front in addition to getting a foldable armrest at the rear.

The air intake filter has also been redesigned with strong cuts while the fog lamp housings have been well integrated into the front bumper. In addition to this, the brand has also tweaked the rear bumper by a bit while the taillights have also been revised.

Both the 2020 Tata Tiago and Tigor’s aerodynamics have been improved to meet the all-new pedestrian safety norms while both the cars have been able to score a four-star rating in the Global NCAP crash test in terms of adult occupant safety and three stars for the child occupant safety.

Powering both the sedan and hatchback is a BS6-compliant 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, naturally-aspirated petrol engine that is capable of offering maximum power of 86hp and a peak torque of 113Nm. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual as well as an optional AMT gearbox. The brand has officially discontinued its 1.05-litre diesel engine since the upgradation to the BS6 norms would have increased the price tags further losing the bigger chunk of audience.

The top-spec variant of the 2020 Tata Tiago and Tata Tigor facelift have been equipped with a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system that is compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Both cars feature 15-inch alloy wheels in addition to getting a surround sound audio system from Harman as well as multiple driving modes. The brand has further equipped the hatchback and the sedan with automatic climate control and electric wing mirrors.
