BS6-compliant Honda Activa 125 has been officially unveiled by the largest scooter manufacturer of India. The scooter is using modern technology to ensure the least emission level and maximum mileage for the customer. The scooter comes with an advanced 125cc, single cylinder petrol engine with Honda Eco Technology and fuel injection.

The results are clear as Honda Activa 125 Fi is the first product from the lineup to meet the safety and emission standards that are coming into effect from April 1, 2020. The use of fuel injection has not resulted in any power drop as the scooter is good for 8.5 HP of maximum power and 10.5 Nm of maximum torque.

The engine comes with a familiar CVT but this time, the ECU is monitoring the same in such a manner that riding an Activa was never this exciting. The silent start option with ACG starter makes no noise when the engine fires up. Not just that, the system automatically switches off the engine when a halt is detected. It starts again in no time when required, saving a lot of fuel that is wasted during city drives.

The scooter comes with a front glove box that can hold the phone and help it get charged without any hassle. The exterior designing now features a different front end with chrome in the middle and chrome plating on the sides.

The external fuel filler makes it easy for the riders to keep sitting while refuelling is being done. LED position lamps, headlight, and other electrical advancements like the new console make the BS6 Activa 125 even more special for technology lovers. It now clearly reads the instantaneous fuel efficiency and distance to empty.

The smart side-stand indicator disables the starting system until the rider is safe to move with the stand folded back. Moreover, everything is controlled by the single switch that houses the key. The price for the BS6-complaint Honda Activa 125 is yet to be revealed. The scooter will be available in six colours: Rebel Red Metallic, Black, Heavy Gray Metallic, Midnight Blue Metallic, Pearl Precious White, and Majestic Brown Metallic.

Kymco X-Town 300i could be the first product that the brand plans to introduce in India. The maxi-scooter craze is limited to just 125-150cc products in India and the introduction of the 250-300cc product can raise the commuter-friendly scooter segment benchmark by one level.

Suzuki Burgman is the closest thing to a maxi scooter for the Indian market presently. However, the same is based on the Access 125 frame and flaunts huge body panels. On the other hand, X-town 300i is a full-sized, fully-equipped premium scooter.

Kymco X-Town 300i is powered by a liquid cooled, fuel injected 276cc engine, producing 24.4 HP at 7250 rpm and 25 Nm at 6250 rpm. This engine is a great option for those who crave power from an automatic product. The same segment motorcycles are tuned to produce much more power but here, the primary focus is on riding comfort and ease of even the pillion rider.

The front comes with a motorcycle-inspired twin headlight setup with indicators being neatly studded into the side fairing. The visor is huge and that guarantees the minimum amount of windblast for the rider.

The long wheelbase and sporty exhaust further add to the premium feel of Kymco X-Town 300i. The rear end features an LED light setup and twin shocks for the added comfort. The interesting part for the scooter is its instrument console, featuring car-like twin pods and centre-placed MID. The left section houses the speedometer while the right part comes with a full-sized tachometer with 10,000 rpm limit.

The massive under-seat storage offers space for up to 2 helmets, still leaving a lot of space for other important things. Both the ends are equipped with disc brakes and Bosch 9.1 ABS safety shield. The Kymco X-Town 300i scooter is expected to get an ex-showroom price tag of around INR 2 lakh in India.

Bajaj Urbanite Scooter Spotted Again (New Photos): Bajaj Auto is going to enter the scooter segment after saying that they have no intention of launching scooters, as they are motorcycle makers and would remain focused towards it. Also, they said that in future if they need to launch a scooter then it would be an e-scooter. Now, Bajaj is getting ready to enter the market by launching their new brand called Urbanite and its first product would most probably be an electric scooter.

Bajaj Urbanite Scooter

The most recent spy photos of the scooter have been leaked by Power Drift on their Instagram page. You can see two test mules of the upcoming scooter being tested in Pune. In terms of the design, it looks sleek and features an attractive headlight (probably all-LED). The Urbanite scooter seems to be highly inspired by the retro design theme of the Piaggio Vespa.

Though Bajaj has not confirmed anything about their upcoming scooter, it is expected that it would get modern features which will include an all-digital instrument console and it will probably also get e-SIM embedded connectivity feature, which will allow the users to keep a check on various details about their scooter via a smartphone app.

One of the spy photos of the scooter also reveals that it would feature a DRL tube around the main LED headlight, and we must say that it looks quite interesting. Also, it was being rumoured that at the front the scooter will get a single-sided suspension and by seeing the spied photos clearly one can expect it to be true.

Autocar India recently also posted a photo of the scooter’s rear end. It is not so clear but as we can see, the right side of the scooter is missing a very important component, that is the exhaust, so we can clearly expect that the spy photos are of the Bajaj’s upcoming electric scooter.

Mechanically, the scooter is expected to be powerful enough that one can cruise at a speed of 80 kmph on the highways. It can feature driving modes too like the already available electric scooters in the market by Ather Energy.

Earlier in January this year, Rajiv Bajaj, the Managing Director of Bajaj Autos said that they would also be launching electric 3-wheelers under the same Urbanite brand name. Mr Sumeet Narang will head the Urbanite unit dedicated to electric vehicles in assistance of Mr Amit Nandi, head of Probiking business unit for the financial year 2019.

In the coming years, most of the companies would be shifting their focus towards electric vehicles, the reason being that from the year 2025, the Indian government is planning to ban the sale of sub-150cc bikes and scooters to make way for the electric 2-wheelers. Fully camouflaged test mules of an urban scooter expected to be the new Bajaj Urbanite has been spotted testing in Pune. With Bajaj’s earlier plan on offering urban mobility solutions in the local as well as the International market, the leaked images you see here are most probably of the upcoming Bajaj Urbanite electric scooter.

Keeping the design close to the first rendered sketches of Bajaj scooter under the Urbanite brand that surfaced way back in February this year, the fully camouflaged test mules features twin slanting tail lamps, a wide seat, and a pillion grab handle. As seen in the images, the newly spied scooter also features foldable rear footrest.

Bajaj Urbanite Electric Scooter Spotted for the First Time

As promised earlier by the brand that it will only be launching electric scooters whenever possible, the spy shots do guarantee that the upcoming scooter would be an all-electric product. Though there hasn’t been any confirmation on the transmission, the Bajaj Urbanite is expected to be equipped with a CVT transmission.

According to some of the reports, the Urbanite scooter will be launching in the Indian market by the end of the year 2019. Some of the expected features of the Bajaj Urbanite includes a curvy front profile, stylish alloy wheels, a single-sided front suspension, and a comfortable single piece saddle.

The brand might also introduce a fully digital instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity and navigation features in order to compete in the market with the likes of the upcoming Honda Activa 6G.

The brand might equip the scooter with an eSIM embedded internet technology that allows the riders to keep track of all the scooter details like the remaining battery, ride measures, location of the scooter and more via their smartphone. In addition to the Urbanite scooter, Bajaj Auto is also working on an electric version of the Qute quadricycle that will also get the Urbanite badging in the coming months.
