The Motor Vehicles Amendment Bill 2019 has been finally passed in the Rajya Sabha after getting rejected back in 2017 and seeks just the President’s agreement to become a law. The bill was brought by Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Mr Nitin Gadkari.

The bill has been passed after doing a number of amendments in the Motor Vehicle Act of 1988. The Motor Vehicles Amendment Bill 2019 was passed by the speaker Om Birla on the basis of a voice vote that happened in the Lok Sabha. The road safety bill received 108 nods to 13 rejections.

In its initial stages in the year 2017, the bill faced rejection from the Lok Sabha Session after it was passed by the Upper House of the Parliament. The pivotal point of the bill is to impose stricter punishments so that the defaulters avoid to violate traffic rules.

As per the Motor Vehicles Amendment Bill 2019, a new proposal has also been drafted under which the government would be able to increase the fines by 10% each year. Here is the complete list regarding the old penalties and the amendments introduced in them.

Urbanite electric scooter, the upcoming product by Bajaj Auto Limited, has been spotted testing yet again in India. Bajaj is a global brand when it comes to manufacturing both two-wheelers and three-wheelers. The company became very popular with scooters like Chetak, Priya, Sunny, and the Legend. But with the growing preference for cars and motorcycles, the Bajaj scooters lost their influence among the buyers and thus the brand stopped manufacturing the same in 2005.

Recently, a new set of images have been touring the internet that reveals a test mule of the Bajaj Urbanite, which is also being rumoured to be named as the Bajaj Chetak electric. These images show the left and the rear side of the upcoming scooter. The spy shots are not very clear but still, they give a closer look at the upcoming two-wheeler.

The tail of the scooter has flowing side panels and one can spot a comfortable pillion seat. The scooter has a single piece grab rail at the back for pillion’s safety. There is no exhaust canister on the test mule, making it clear that it is an all-electric scooter. On digging deep into these spy shots we noticed that the front suspension gets its strength from the trailing arms.

The Urbanite electric scooter has been given a retro touch as the side panels have a curved design whereas the front apron is wide, making the scooter look quite similar to the Vespa. These detailings have been contrasted with multi-spoke alloy wheels.

Earlier, the sketches of the upcoming model were spotted on the internet but the test mule is a little different from its sketches. The initial sketches had a combustion engine whereas the one you see here is an electric scooter. Bajaj Urbanite is expected to be priced around INR 1 lakh and will prove to be a rival for Ather, Okinawa, and 22Motors.

According to a recent report, the Japanese multinational conglomerate Honda is expected to launch the Forza 300 premium scooter in India by the end of this year. The scooter will be exclusively retailed by Honda’s BigWing stores across the country. The brand will reportedly bring the Forza to India through the CBU route.

Honda Forza 300 will enter the Indian market in competition with the 22Kymco 300i as both possess a lot of similarities being a premium maxi-scooter. Forza’s competitor Kymco is available at a price tag of INR 2.30 lakh, while the former is expected to launch with a price tag of around INR 7-8 lakhs, hence making it comparatively much expensive and also beating down a lot of 650cc sportbikes in terms of price.

The primary reason for Forza’s high price tag is the addition of taxes and import duties as the scooter will be made available to the Indian buyers through CBU (Completely Built Unit) route in which the entire assembled model is imported from the origin country to the country where it will be sold.

The secondary reason is the features being offered on the Forza 300, like the all-LED light setup along with the car-like premium semi-digital instrument cluster. The scooter features adjustable windscreen with huge under-seat storage that can hold up to 2 full-faced helmets and it also has a 12-volt socket to charge a smartphone or any other compatible electronic device. Honda Forza 300 is quite a touring focused premium scooter.

You can totally rely on it for a smooth ride as its suspension duties are managed by 33mm telescopic front forks and twin rear shock absorbers with a 7-stage spring preload-adjustment. The brakes get its power from a 256mm disc brake at the front and a 240mm at the rear end.

It ensures the rider’s safety by having 2-channel ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) and HSTC (Honda Selectable Torque Control), making Forza 300 a one-of-a-kind scooter when it comes to the roads with unfavourable conditions.

Honda Forza 300 is powered by a 279cc fuel-injected single-cylinder engine, which generates a maximum power of 24.8 HP at 7,000 rpm and a peak torque of 27.2 Nm at 5,750 rpm. The company claimed mileage of Forza is 31 kmpl, while you can expect it to deliver around 25 kmpl in real-world conditions. The scooter is equipped with a 120/70-R15 front tyre and a 140/70-R14 rear tyre.

If interested buyers wish to know more about the premier Japanese scooter then they can visit or contact the Honda BigWing outlet situated at Gurugram as they have confirmed the launch of a premium maxi-scooter to happen by the end of the year.

Honda has officially unveiled an all-new adventure scooter, the ADV150 at the 2019 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS). The scooter is a more road-focused version of the Honda’s 745cc, twin-cylinder X-ADV scooter. Talking about the design, the 2019 Honda ADV150 looks more or less like a scaled-down version of the bigger X-ADV 750.

The large front apron, twin LED headlamps, and the adjustable windscreen is in line with the design language of the 745cc X-ADV, but the placement of headlamps in the ADV150 gives it an identity of its own. The tail section of the adventure scooter has also been executed neatly and the rear design gels perfectly with the rest of the body.

The dimensions of the Honda ADV150 are 1950mm in length, 763mm in width, and 1153mm in height. Mechanically, the adventure scooter is equipped with a 149.3cc, 4-stroke, SOHC, single-cylinder engine. It is good enough to produce 14.5 HP of maximum power at 8500 rpm and 13.8 Nm of peak torque at 6500 rpm. The power output of the engine goes to the rear wheel via a V-Matic transmission. For suspension, the ADV150 is equipped with conventional telescopic front forks and twin gas-charged Showa shock absorbers at the rear.

The scooter would be able to handle mild trails as it has alloy wheels (14-inch front and 13-inch rear) that are shod with block pattern tyres. The ADV150’s wheels get single petal discs at both the ends (240mm front and 220mm rear). The adventure scooter is available in Indonesia with both CBS (Combined Braking System) and ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) options.

Honda ADV150 features a negative LCD instrument cluster which can display a lot of helpful information in addition to the regular stuff. If we see in India, at present, the Grazia 125 and Activa 125 are the most powerful and the quickest Honda scooters you can buy in the country.

The Honda ADV150 is available in Indonesia for IDR 33.5 million (INR 1.65 lakh) for the CBS model and IDR 36.5 million (INR 1.80 lakh) for the ABS model. The prices mentioned here are on-road Jakarta. The all-new adventure scooter is surely a premium scooter and as of now, the brand has no plans to launch it in the Indian market.
