Honda Jazz May Wave GoodBye To Indian Market In 2023

Due to really low sales numbers in the past few years, Honda seems to be planning the discontinuation of the hatchback Jazz from the Indian car market. According to sources, Honda Jazz’s production will most likely end in 2023. The market is evolving toward SUVs, and some shapes are becoming obsolete. For such reasons, Volkswagen has also halted the production of the Polo hatchback in our country.

It is worth noting here that the brand has not made any big announcements for the Indian car market in the last two years. However, the manufacturer has always expressed its intentions of never leaving our country and bringing new models here. Recently, the brand also unveiled the hybrid version of a mid-size sedan named the City e:HEV, which will go on sale in India in the next few weeks.

The Honda Jazz has been a tough competitor for premium hatchbacks like the Hyundai i20, Maruti Baleno, Toyota Glanza, and Tata Altroz. The brand has already discontinued plenty of models from the country such as Accord, CR-V, BR-V and Civic and now with the exit of Jazz, the brand’s car lineup in our country will be shrunk further. Not only the cars, but the brand also shut down its Noida-based manufacturing plant two years back.

At present, the Honda Jazz is available in India in three variants called V, VX, and ZX. Powering the hatch is a 1.2-litre petrol engine that is capable of generating 89 bhp and 110 Nm of peak torque when coupled to a 5-speed manual or a 7-step CVT automatic gearbox. As for features, the car comes equipped with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a sunroof, LED headlamps and fog lamps, cruise control, paddle shifters and more.
