Isuzu, the Japanese car maker first showcased their adventure utility vehicle, the D-Max V-Cross at the 2016 Auto Expo. Well, the V cross has finally been launched, starting at a price of INR 12.49 lacs (ex-showroom, Chennai). The company claims that the D-Max V-Cross has been built to cater to needs of adventure seekers in India. The vehicle is a perfect mix of comfort and utility. It not only has great off-roading capabilities, but Isuzu has also made sure that the car is equipped with top-notch passenger car like comforts.
Mechanically, the D-Max V-Cross is equipped with a 2.5-litre, 4-cylinder turbo-diesel engine churning out a power of 134 BHP and a peak torque of 320 NM. The engine is coupled with a 5-speed manual transmission. The V-cross also has a dial-type 4WD (shift-on-fly) mode.
The car’s interior is quite rich which great features such as a 7 inch entertainment system, steering mounted controls, tilt adjustable steering, automatic ac etc. It also is equipped with rich safety features such ABS, EBD, dual front airbags etc.

In a statement, Isuzu said, “The D-MAX V-Cross is designed to meet the aspirations of India’s adventure seekers. With a combination of rugged off-roading capability and passenger car-like comforts, the V-Cross caters to the personal vehicle buyer who seeks adventure, style and utility. The V-Cross’ chassis is based on Isuzu Gravity Response Intelligent Platform (iGRIP) technology that gives it stability even at high speeds and sharp curves.”
The V-cross will be manufactured at Sri City, Andhra Pradesh and the deliveries will begin from July 2016 onwards. The pick-up truck segment in India has been downcast. Let’s see if the V-cross can stir things up.
