Kawasaki has launched the all-new quarter liter Versys 250 in Indonesia at IDR 61.9m (INR 3.12 lakh). The entry level sports tourer has been launched in two trims, Versys 250 City and Versys 250 Tourer. The second variant is totally loaded and priced at IDR 72.7m (INR 3.66 lakh). The motorcycle looks very promising in both of its variants and returns effective levels of fuel efficiency compared to its competition.
Versys 250 is powered by a 249 cc, twin cylinder 8-valve engine producing 34 PS at 10,500 rpm and 21.7 Nm at 10,000 rpm. It comes mated to a 6-speed transmission with slipper clutch and shares the engine with Kawasaki Z250 and Ninja 250. The design language strictly matches to that of bigger Versys motorcycles. It uses a diamond frame with conventional forks at the front and monoshock at the rear.
Kawasaki Versys-X 250 Launched in Indonesia
The front wheel is larger (19 inch) than the rear (17 inch) while spoked rims provide better stability on all types of surfaces. The tyres are dual purpose while the Tourer version gets the addition of fog lights, body protector, saddle bags and knuckle guards. The motorcycle has been launched in Metallic Graphite Gray/Flat Ebony and Candy Lime Green/Metallic Graphite Gray for the City Variant while the Tourer variant gets Candy Burnt Orange/Metallic Graphite Gray in place of Flat Ebony shade.
The Indian market is currently restricted for touring motorcycles as just RE Himalayan and Mahindra Mojo are available for the purpose. BMW will bring the G310GS while KTM’s upcoming 390 Adventure will provide a wider lineup of touring products in India. Kawasaki Versys 250 will stand as a twin cylinder product, heavily priced due to least amount of localization and easily crossing the INR 3.25 lakh price tag for the base variant. Kawasaki might bring the Versys-X 250 to India by end 2017.
