Suzuki Swift Sport was spotted in late April this year on multiple occasions, the Instagram handle, ‘Car Crazy India’ shared pictures of the car being transported which were clicked by Yashraj Jadhav. On a second account, Sidhant K shared another set of images from Pune of a test mule with an ‘On Test By ARAI’ sticker on it.
Swift Sport is making headlines again as it is going through rigorous testing by the ARAI under varied conditions for homologation and the most interesting part is that the car holds no camouflage and reveals most of its features. Hot hatch can be seen with a unique red number plate and an ‘On Test By ARAI’ sticker. The brand logo is missing and in its place, there is a ring hole which might be there to hold the ARAI test equipment.
The model seen in the spy photos is reportedly the European-spec 2022 model, which is tweaked to suit the Indian conditions compared to the standard global model. Probably to check the tyre and suspension performance, people have recently spotted the test mule on the hilly terrain on the outskirts of Mumbai.
We talked about the engine and transmission specs extensively in the previous article, so not going into detail, we can speculate that the European model that comes with a 1.4L Booster Jet Turbo-VVT petrol engine could be changed into the 1.0L Booster Jet Turbo petrol engine that was offered with the Baleno RS.
The updated test model can be seen with stiffened chassis and suspension to offer good handling. On the exterior it gets a larger grille with scooped out panels, more pronounced creases than the regular Swift, 17-inch alloy wheels and the prominent dual exhaust at the rear. With all the news and testing surrounding the Suzuki Swift Sport, it is right to assume that it will make its way to the Indian hatchback space soon.
