Apple iPhone 14 Launch - List of Top 5 Expected Features

The top-selling iPhone 13 received significant upgrades, but the iPhone 14 may see even more significant changes. According to leaks and reports, Apple will launch the iPhone 14 lineup in just a few days, which will be jam-packed with new features and improvements. If you're thinking about getting a new smartphone, here are five major features that are rumoured to be coming to the iPhone 14 series.

1. Astrophotography

The tagline for Apple's September 7 event is "Far out," and the poster depicts the Apple logo in space. Although not confirmed, a new astrophotography mode for the iPhone camera is possible. Perhaps Apple is hinting that the next iPhone will be able to capture the night sky in stunning detail. Last year, Apple leaker Max Weinbach claimed that the iPhone 13 would include an astrophotography mode, but when the device was released, there was no such feature. This feature may have been retained by Apple for the iPhone 14.

2. Satellite Connectivity

Satellite connectivity is another significant feature that Apple could include in the iPhone 14. According to Bloomberg, the technology will allow iPhone users to text emergency services and contacts or report an emergency when no cellular service is available. The feature is expected to be built into iMessage directly. Although Apple has not confirmed whether the next iPhone will be able to communicate with satellites rather than a cellular network in an emergency, the 'Far Out' space-themed invite alludes to the long-rumoured feature.

3. Always-on Display

For years, Android phones have had an always-on display mode. And it appears that Apple is also planning to launch an always-on mode for iPhones with a unique twist. For those who are unfamiliar, an always-on display shows the time or notifications, even when the phone is locked, on the screen. It's a useful feature that allows you to see notifications without turning on your phone. The Apple Watch Series 5 and newer models already have always-on displays, and Apple is likely to take the same approach with the iPhone.

4. Punch-Hole Display

The majority of “iPhone 14” leaks have focused on the professional models, iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max. This could be due to Apple’s apparent shift in the 2022 upgrade strategy. In the pro models, the display notch is expected to be removed in favour of a pill-and-hole cutout, a 48MP camera, and a faster processor. The standard models, however, may not differ significantly from the current iPhone 13.

5. Improved Cameras

Apple will include a high-quality front-facing camera on the iPhone 14 for the first time in years. LG-supplied modules add advanced functionality to the iPhone's front camera, including autofocus. This level of advancement promises improved aperture for improved depth-of-field in portrait mode and video calls.

The iPhone's imaging prowess is unparalleled, and if you own the iPhone 13 Pro Max, you already know how superior the camera experience is. Apple will once again improve the camera experience with the iPhone 14 series, with a focus on achieving excellent low-light performance.

The iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max will have a brand new 48MP main sensor, up from 12MP on the iPhone 13. This will be Apple's largest camera resolution increase in seven years. Given how good the iPhone cameras are with a 12MP sensor, a new 48MP sensor will improve details and low-light performance, potentially affecting overall image quality.
