The biggest Apple event of the year was held yesterday in California and the much awaited iPhone 8, iPhone 8 plus and the 10th anniversary special iPhone X was launched. The iPhone 8 and 8 Plus are upgrades to Apple’s current iPhone 7 and 7 Plus range, updating some of the main features found on Apple’s current products. Introducing the iPhone 8, Apple executive Phil Schiller said the device “improves on everything we love about the iPhone”.

The iPhone 8 offers incremental improvements over the last year’s iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus models. It very much retain the same form factor and design, but there are a few noticeable changes including new colour options – Silver, Space Gray, and Gold Finish, improved display, 25 percent louder speakers, as well as glass front and back.
The phone supports Qi wireless inductive charging, allowing people charge the iPhone without having to plug in a cable. It is powered by A11 Bionic SoC six-core processors and improved GPU, which is 30 percent more efficient than the GPUs in last year’s models. The new iPhone 8 will come with Apple’s new operating system iOS 11.
iOS 11 includes hundreds of new features like a redesigned control centre, better multitasking, improvements to the camera, peer-to-peer Apple Pay and new safety features. The iPhone 8 comes with a 12 megapixel camera at the rear with a larger and faster sensor, a new color filter and deeper pixels and quad LED True Tone Flash and a 7MP front camera with f/2.2 aperture, 1080p video recording,Retina Flash.
While the demise of the home button and Touch ID on the iPhone X has been in the news, the iPhone 8 will maintain the button and Touch ID. It won’t, however, have facial recognition.
The iPhone 8 Plus is also officially here, alongside the new iPhone 8 and super high-spec iPhone X. The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus design follow the same design language as their predecessors but they sport a metal and glass bodies and now come in only two storage variants – 64GB and 256GB.
The iPhone 8 Plus price in India has been set as Rs. 73,000 for the base 64GB storage variant, while the model with 256GB storage is Rs. 86,000. The iPhone 8 models’ release date in India is September 29, as part of the second phase of release. iOS 11 will be available to download from 19 September. Both the new iPhone models also support Qi wireless inductive charging, allowing people charge the iPhone without having to plug in a cable again.
The iPhone 8 Plus will have a 5.5 inch Retina HD display with bezels around the side. It will have all new A11 Bionic chip tuned for augmented reality experience and the six-core CPU has two performance cores that are 25% faster and four efficiency cores that are 70% faster and the three-core GPU offers up to 30% faster graphics performance compared to A10 Fusion. Apple says that these have redesigned stereo speakers, offering up to 25% louder audio and deeper bass.
The 8 Plus has dual 12-megapixel cameras that has Portrait Lighting that uses the dual cameras and the Apple-designed image signal processor to recognize the scene, create a depth map and separate the subject from the background and a 7MP front camera with f/2.2 aperture, 1080p video recording,Retina Flash.
