ASUS 6Z has been officially launched in India with a starting price tag of INR 31,999. The smartphone will be available exclusively on Flipkart starting from June 26th. The buyers will get Flipkart’s ‘Complete Mobile Protection’ worth INR 3,999 for just INR 99. The phone is available in 2 colours: Midnight Black and Twilight Silver. ASUS has renamed the ZenFone 6 to 6Z for the Indian market.
Delhi High Court has banned ASUS for using the terms Zen and ZenFone for its products in India. The brand is not allowed to use these names anymore for its smartphones or other products for six weeks (May 28-July 23, 2019). The high court has made this decision in accordance with the lawsuit filed by Telecare Network India Pvt Ltd against ASUS Technology Pvt Ltd.
TNIPL claims to own the trademark for the name Zena and Zen Mobile that are being used for their feature phones, smartphones, tablets, and other related accessories. The brand has been the prior user of these names from 2008 and the High Court has given the verdict in their favour.
According to the reports, both the brands were using almost identical names for their lineup, and they have also got a similar price range as well as the same portfolio. Zen Mobile has been known to offer mobile phones since 2008 and had Amitabh Bachchan as their brand Ambassador while the ASUS started selling their smartphones under the ZenFone name in 2014.
ASUS 6Z features a flip camera while gets a notch-less 6.46-inch Full HD+ NanoEdge IPS LCD display. The smartphone is powered by an Octa-Core Snapdragon 855 7nm processor with Adreno 640 GPU mounted on top. The ASUS 6Z will compete in the Indian market with the newly launched OnePlus 7.
The flip dual camera module features a 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 primary camera and a secondary 13MP 125-degree ultra-wide-angle lens. It can be used as either a front camera or a rear camera while flipping at a 180-degree angle. The smartphone packs a 5,000mAh battery with QuickCharge 4.0 and gets a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. In addition to this, the ASUS Zenfone 6 also features 5-magnet stereo speakers, Dual NXP TFA9874 smart amp, dual microphones, and an FM Radio.
