In addition to the Samsung Galaxy S23 and the S23 Plus, the brand has also launched the flagship S23 Ultra with a starting price tag of Rs 1.25 lakhs. In terms of design, the main difference from the previous gen is the flatter frame on both sides. The S23 Ultra is now easier to hold, and the curvature of the front and back glass is less noticeable. The ports, buttons, speaker grill, and S-Pen are all in the same place.
Samsung has improved the display on the S23 Ultra. A 6.8-inch QHD+ Infinity-O-Edge Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with a refresh rate of 1-120Hz and a peak brightness of 1750 nits. Samsung also improved its Vision Booster technology, which is now three levels adaptive. Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protects the S23 Ultra on both the front and back.
Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset powers the S23 Ultra. It is a custom higher-clocked version of the processor designed for Samsung. It should improve performance in demanding tasks compared to other smartphones with the same processor. With this increased power, cooling the chipset is critical, and Samsung is well aware of this. The S23 Ultra has a 2.7xlarger vapour chamber cooling system, which should keep the chip cool.
The camera system on the S23 Ultra is one of the most significant upgrades. It has the latest ISOCELL HP2 sensor from Samsung with 200 million pixels. Samsung claims 1.5x faster autofocus, 8K 30fps support, and better night videos, in addition to Wider OIS, better noise control, and astrophotography support via the Expert RAW app.
The 12MP selfie camera comes with HDR support and dual-pixel autofocus. It can also now take better low-light portraits and produce 16-bit RAW images. The rest of the camera system has remained unchanged. It retains a 10MP 3x telephoto sensor, a 10MP 10x telephoto sensor, and a 12MP Ultra-wide sensor.
The battery capacity, charging speeds, 5G and WiFi 6E support, and S-Pen features are the same as the S22 Ultra. The S23 Ultra is available in four new colours: Phantom Black, Green, Cream, and Lavender.
