Recently a live photo of Xiaomi Redmi 9 smartphone has surfaced on the web. The successor to Redmi 8 is expected to mark its entrance in the market in the coming days. The phone looks quite promising considering that it will come featured with the quad rear camera setup. As per the leaked specs, it will get a 13MP primary rear camera, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera, a 5MP macro camera, and a 2MP depth sensor. Going by the leaked image, three cameras are lined up vertically while one is positioned to the side along with the flash. The one with the flash is expected to be the 2MP depth sensor.
The upcoming smartphone is expected to come powered with MediaTek Helio G80 chipset which also powers Realme 6i. In terms of the camera specifications, the Realme 6i beats Redmi 9 as the former features a 48MP primary camera but Redmi 9 is ahead of the Realme 6i in terms of the macro lens as it has a 5MP sensor when compared to the latter’s 2MP sensor. Also, MediaTek has confirmed that Helio G80 SoC is well-suited for AI camera features which play an essential role in object recognition, smart photo album as well as Bokeh-shot enhancements.
The predecessor for the smartphone, the Xiaomi Redmi 8 was launched by the brand in December last year. It is a budget smartphone available in two variants, 3GB RAM with 32GB internal storage and 4GB RAM with 64GB internal storage. Considering the upcoming Redmi 9 to be a budget smartphone, the camera specs look quite good. As per the latest details available, Redmi has yet to confirm the launch of its upcoming smartphone.
