Xiaomi has shared the images of the upcoming so-called Flagship Killer 2.0 smartphone revealing the front and rear design. The phone has been showcased in a dark maroon colour with a bit of purple colour in between which gives it a sort of shiny and sleek look. The company has also officially confirmed the launch date of the Redmi K20. The smartphone will launch on 28th May at 14:00 (2:00 PM) in China, which means it will launch at 11:30 AM according to the Indian Standard Time (IST).
Xiaomi Redmi President Lu Weibing confirmed that the Redmi K20 will feature a 6.39-inch AMOLED screen with seventh-gen screen fingerprint unlocking scheme, with a 3P lens type optical fingerprinting system. The hardware has been upgraded to 7.2μm ultra-large pixels, which is 100% higher than the previous generation’s photosensitive area, and the finger area has also been increased by 15%, which can now capture the fingerprint optical signal in a better way.
The further upgraded hardware is combined with the software parallel DSP algorithm which will increase the unlock speed of the Redmi K20 by 10%. Moreover, its success rate has also increased by 30% under low temperature, strong light, and dry fingers. Also, the front fingerprint scanner is more convenient than ever as the company has optimised its unlock area light from green to cyan. Now the phone will dynamically adjust the brightness of the fingerprint area at night.
Talking about the processor, it was previously cleared in the teaser images that the smartphone will be powered by a Snapdragon 855 processor with Adreno 640 GPU. As the brand has now officially revealed the rear design of the phone, as expected, the Redmi K20 comes with triple rear cameras.
We already know that it would feature a 48MP primary camera and we can expect it to get Sony IMX586 lens, along with a 20MP camera and we can expect it to be the telephoto lens, while the third camera would most probably be featuring an ultra-wide-angle lens. Also, the smartphone will be offered with a pop-up selfie camera which we can expect to feature a 16MP Sony IMX471 sensor.
The phone will come featured with 4000mAH of battery power with AI enabled intelligent power saving mode that will manage the power consumption in applications and games. When the user will go to sleep, the phone will automatically enter into sleep mode, to optimize the battery life.
The teaser images on the official website of Xiaomi also show that the Redmi K20 would come featured with a dedicated gaming mode to enhance users experience. Well, all the details and complete official technical specifications would be revealed in just a few days.
We can expect that the company would not take much time to launch this phone in India to compete with the flagship smartphones that have made their way in the Indian market. It is also being rumoured that the Redmi K20 Pro will be launched in India as the POCO F2, and it would be competing in the market with the likes of recently launched OnePlus 7 and the upcoming ASUS ZenFone 6.
