Custom-Made Hero Karizma Retro Standard: Motorcycle customization that results in a modern-day sports bike to look like the old school standard two-wheeler inspired from the 1980s and features the same aristocratic persona is what the Gear Gear Motorcycles, a customization shop in Bangalore has revealed to its audience.
The customizers were keen to offer the stock Hero Karizma 220 some out-of-the-box inspired outlook and at the same time something entirely different from the basic cafe racer or a tracker design language. So, they stuck with the idea of offering the very famous sports bike a standard 80’s two-wheeler outlook which redefines the retro styling adorned with some modern-day features.
Coming to the ancestral outlook offered to the customized motorcycle, the rear subframe of the stock Karizma 220 was redesigned while the customizers have equipped it with a retro spoke wheels setup that eliminated the alloy wheels seen on the stock sports bike.
The fuel tank on the stock model of the motorcycle has been replaced with a simpler design while the customized motorcycle has been shod with a single custom seat setup inspired from the vintage bikes and adorned with brown leather.
Coming to the front fascia, the motorcycle now features a round headlight unit that has been housed in chrome while a similar chrome treatment has been offered to the front mudguard. The clip-on handlebar at the front has been equipped with a single speedometer unit on top while the customizers have equipped the bike with a small-custom exhaust unit as well as a K&N filter.
Adding to the retro outlook is the wider tyres at the front and the rear in addition to the simplistic taillight as well as turn indicators setup. The customizers have further repositioned the battery while the area under the seat has been left with the empty space to add to its distinguished outlook.
Apart from the cosmetic changes, the motorcycle has been left mechanically unaltered. Powering the motorcycle is the same 223cc, oil-cooled engine that is good for 20 BHP @ 8000 rpm and 19.7 NM @ 6500 rpm. The engine remains mated to a 5-speed gearbox and offers a thrilling ride with its new lightweight retro profile.
