Royal Enfield Thunderbird ‘Beast’ Chopper by Roadside Customs

Royal Enfield Thunderbird ‘Beast’ Chopper by Roadside Customs

Royal Enfield motorcycles serve as a perfect canvas for modifiers around the country. One such example came by the name Thunderbird Beast by Roadside Customs, leaving behind the standard cruiser stance of stock motorcycle and getting the new Softail look with remarkable ape hanger handlebar.

It feels more like a chopper as rear smaller wheel fulfills riders wish to sit low and enjoy the view through the huge handlebar. Starting from the rear, Beast has a chopped fender and retains the dual shock absorber setup from Royal Enfield. Every possible part was removed from that area between the engine and rear fender.

That results in an empty rear half that looks impressive from every angle. Engine was left without any change while custom exhaust was used to enhance both visual as well as aural presence. Beast comes with a single thin saddle while fuel tank seems highly inspired from the Harley Davidson Iron 883.

The ape hanger handlebar looks good but may not feel as good to ride. The foot pegs are center placed and could have been forward for a relaxed riding position. Front simply comes with a chrome laden headlight and its equally bright holder.

Thunderbird BeastRoyal Enfield motorcycles carry least number of complex parts and thus, modifiers feel good to have one as their donor bike in most situations. They presently offer two engines on the popular Classic, Bullet and Thunderbird series of bikes. The 346cc, single cylinder engine is good for 19.8 BHP and 28 Nm of torque.

It is fed by carburetor enabled assembly while the bigger 499cc engine uses fuel injection. That one is good for 27.2 BHP and 41.4 Nm of torque. The engine used here is unknown while it seems sure that Beast can be built on any of the two. Royal Enfield range starts from INR 1.13 lakh in India.
