Every motorcycle enthusiast knows how important Yamaha RX 100 is to our country’s heritage. There have been a plethora of RX 100 modifications circling the internet though one extraordinary customized motorcycle has grabbed our attention. The Yamaha RX 100 has been modified into a unique cafe racer while has been christened by the modifier Akshat Sharma as “DVIJ”. In Sanskrit, DVIJ stands for “Rebirth” and it is something that has been offered to the old 2-stroke Yamaha RX 100.
Coming to the front fascia, the Yamaha RX 100 DVIJ has been equipped with clubman handlebars which adds to the motorcycle’s cafe racer look while the fuel tank has also been redesigned completely. Adorning the fuel tank is a metallic grey colour while the addition of black bold stripes at the edges completes its overall looks. The same colour treatment has been offered to the front mudguard which is now shorter than the one offered to the stock machine.
In addition to redesigning the fuel tank and the handlebar, the DVIJ also features a 16-inch tyre at the rear. The modifier has also offered an all-new vintage-style cafe racer seat to the motorcycle adorned with ribbed stitching and fine leather. The chain cover as seen in the stock motorcycle has also been removed while the toolbox now features a stainless steel “DVIJ” nameplate.
Apart from these cosmetic changes, this modified Yamaha RX 100 remains mechanically unaltered. Powering the DVIJ cafe racer is the same 98cc 2-stroke, reed valve, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that is good for a maximum power of 11 BHP @ 7500 rpm and a peak torque of 10.39 Nm @ 6500 rpm. The engine remains mated to a 4-speed gearbox.
The modifier Akshat Sharma is currently pursuing his ‘Bachelor of Design’ degree from SUPVA Rohtak. He doesn’t own a modification shop as of yet though wishes to pursue his career in the same. The total cost of customization of RX 100 into DVIJ is around INR 50,000 to INR 60,000 including the donor bike. For more details, you can contact the modifier at [email protected]
