2024 Maruti Swift: 5 Exciting Upgrades to Anticipate

The fourth-generation Suzuki Swift is expected to arrive in India in the next months following its introduction in late 2023 in Japan. The new Swift represents an evolution rather than a complete overhaul in design compared to the current model but it brings a substantial expansion in its feature set. Here’s a look at the top five new features expected on the India-spec 2024 Maruti Swift:

1. A Bigger Touchscreen

The new Swift is expected to be equipped with a larger 9-inch touchscreen unit similar to those found in premium Maruti Nexa offerings such as the Baleno and Fronx. It is also likely to support wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, an upgrade from the current Swift’s smaller 7-inch touchscreen that requires a wired setup.

2. Six Airbags

Maruti is anticipated to offer the new Swift with up to six airbags, aligning with its newer products. The carmaker might also standardize the inclusion of six airbags to comply with the upcoming mandate for enhanced safety. Currently, the Swift is offered with dual front airbags only.

3. A 360-degree Camera

Another significant feature that could be carried over from the new Baleno to the Swift is the 360-degree camera setup. Getting the hatchback around in confined parking spots, in heavy traffic, or around sharp curves would be especially helpful with this. However, this feature is expected to be limited to the higher-spec variants of the fourth-gen Swift.

4. Blind Spot Detection

Blind spot detection is another important safety feature that might be incorporated into the new Swift, as seen on the recently spotted test mule. While this technology is part of the advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), the new Swift in India is not expected to receive the entire suite of ADAS, as that could significantly increase the price. Still, with India’s congested traffic this safety technology might be helpful.

5. Heads-up Display

Maruti could also introduce the heads-up display from the new Baleno in the fourth-gen Swift. Information including the drive mode (in AMT variations), current speed, clock, RPM meter, instant fuel economy, door-ajar alert, and climate control information are all displayed on the Baleno’s unit. The higher-spec models of the new Swift might be the only ones to have this capability.

Expected Launch And Price

The fourth-gen Maruti Swift is expected to be launched in India in the first half of this year, with a starting price of around Rs 6 lakh (ex-showroom). It will reignite its rivalry with the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and also serve as an alternative to the sub-4m crossover MPV, the Renault Triber.

These are some of the features that are expected to be seen on the new Maruti Suzuki Swift when it arrives in India soon.
