5-Door Mahindra Thar SUV Spotted Testing Again – Launch Soon!

A new spy image of the Mahindra Thar 5-door has surfaced online, giving us a closer look at the upcoming SUV. The image shows the Thar 5-door testing on Indian roads, and it reveals a few new details about the SUV.

The most obvious change is the extended wheelbase, which allows for the addition of two rear doors. The rear doors are smaller than the front doors, but they should still provide enough space for passengers to get in and out of the SUV.

The Thar 5-door also appears to have a different roofline than the 3-door model. The roofline is more sloping, which should give the SUV a more coupe-like appearance.

Other than these changes, the Thar 5-door looks very much like the 3-door model. It will continue to be powered by the same 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and 2.2-litre turbo-diesel engines. And it will be available with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.

The interior design will also stay the same. The 5-door variant will have a similar dashboard and steering wheel to the 3-door version. The 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system and instrument panel will be the same as the 3-door version as well. To make the future model more upscale, new upholstery options may be added.

The Mahindra Thar 5-door is expected to be launched in India in August 2023. It will compete with the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Jimny and the Force Gurkha in the Indian market. The Mahindra Thar (3-door) is now priced between Rs 10.54 lakh to Rs 16.78 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). The new 5-door Thar is expected to be more expensive, with prices starting at around Rs 12 lakh.
