Bajaj Pulsar NS160: Potential 5-Inch TFT Upgrade and Updated Switchgear Spotted

Bajaj has been under fire on multiple occasions for not including Bluetooth technology in their motorcycles. This absence has become a subject of jest, with some humorously pointing out that the closest Bajaj has come to Bluetooth is the blue backlit Bajaj logo resembling the Bluetooth symbol. Nevertheless, despite such banter, Bajaj, being a prominent player in the 3-wheeler and 2-wheeler market, seems poised to have the last laugh, given recent significant updates observed on a Pulsar NS160 test mule.

Bajaj Pulsar NS160Embracing Technological Advancements

The Pulsar lineup stands as one of Bajaj’s highest-selling and most coveted offerings earning popularity through years of consistent catering to enthusiasts and thrill-seekers. While Bajaj also boasts other premium sub-brands like Dominar and Avenger, the Pulsar remains the company’s favorite child. Bajaj has already hinted at the launch of “six new Pulsarsby the end of this financial year, focusing on tracking growth and profitability through these additions.

Rajiv Bajaj, Managing Director of Bajaj Auto, has assured enthusiasts that the upcoming Pulsar models will feature fantastic products, hinting at potential technological advancements rather than mere styling updates. A recent report has added fuel to the anticipation by unveiling spy shots of a Pulsar NS160 test mule featuring a camouflaged instrument cluster.

Potential Introduction of a 5-Inch TFT Screen

The spy shots reveal an instrument cluster with a small cutout in the camouflage, providing a glimpse of vehicle speed and fuel information. According to the source, this new instrument cluster looks a lot like the TFT panel that came with the 2024 Chetak motorcycle. The 5-inch TFT non-touch screen on the Chetak offers turn-by-turn navigation, music control, call management, and customizable display themes through Bluetooth connectivity with a smartphone.

New Switchgear and Features

The spy shots also showcase new switchgear on the Pulsar NS160, akin to the updated switchgear seen on the 2024 Chetak, designed to control the new TFT screen. The Chetak’s switchgear included dedicated buttons for Menu, Notification, Navigation, Music, and more, along with toggle buttons. However, the NS160 test mule does not exhibit these specific features, with the only addition being a hazard light switch on the left switchgear.

Anticipated Enhancements and Connectivity

While it remains uncertain if the Pulsar NS160 will mirror the Chetak’s functionalities, including Bluetooth connectivity and navigation, it is plausible that the new infotainment screen on the NS160 and other Pulsar models could be LCD units offering added features.     Without requiring the NS160 to undergo extensive mechanical modifications these potential improvements are anticipated to improve the riding experience. Upon launch it is anticipated that similar feature additions will be introduced to other Pulsar models within comparable price brackets reinforcing Bajaj’s commitment to technological evolution in their motorcycle lineup.
