By Italian motorcycle manufacturer Benelli has launched its latest offering, the Tornado 402R, in China. The bike is powered by a 400cc parallel-twin engine that produces 47 hp of power at 10,000 rpm and a torque of 38 Nm at 8000 rpm. This makes the Tornado 402 A2 license-compliant, implying that it might be available in the European market soon.
Benelli has equipped the Tornado 402R with a six-speed transmission, ABS, and a fully-digital instrument cluster. The Tornado 402 has a sporty design with a sharp front end, a sleek fairing, and a single-sided swingarm.
Premium hardware, such as a projector-style headlamp with twin LED DRLs, an LED taillight and LED indicators, complement the current appearance. The colour TFT panel displays ride-related information, while the safety net is handled by a dual-channel ABS.
This product’s gear features Marzocchi upside-down front forks and a rear mono-shock. The braking system consists of dual front discs and a single rear rotor, while the safety net incorporates dual-channel ABS, as previously noted. The 17-inch alloy wheels are then fitted with Maxxis tubeless tyres in the 110/70-section front and 150/60-section rear.
The Benelli Tornado 402R is priced at 31,800 yuan in China. It is not yet clear if the bike will be launched in other markets, including India. But there is a possibility that it would make it to the European market in the coming months.
It is possible that the Benelli Tornado 402 will make it to the Indian market. Benelli has been increasing its presence in India in recent years, and the Tornado 402 would be a good addition to its lineup. The bike would compete with other 400cc sportbikes in India, such as the KTM RC390.
But there are some factors that could prevent the Benelli Tornado 402 from making it to the Indian market. Price is the prime factor, it is priced at 31,800 yuan in China, which is around ?2.5 lakh in India. This is a premium price for a 400cc sportbike, and it could make the bike less competitive in the Indian market.
